Do you like the female backing voices???

I am typically a sucker for the backing vocals, though occasionally it doesn't work for me.

I tend to like them. Denise Johnson is fantastic on the Electronic tracks, eg, Get the Message and Dark Angel.

My whole beef, which I didn't get into in the past is not backing vocals, like Gillian's in Movement, rather the cheezy vocals on Raise the Pressure and WFTSC. There is a way to use backing vocals to excentuate music and another to repeat or emphasize lyrics... since we can almost all agree that Barney's lyrics are crap (aside from good one liners), they don't and shouldn't need emphasizing... they only point out the weaknesses of the song. Plus there are good backing vocals, and backing vocals you'd expect from a wedding singer's entourage trying to copy Aretha Franklin in rave music, which I think these backing vocals border on.

either way, the choice in vocalist really screwed up songs like Guilt Is a Useless Emotion, jizzstream, If You've Got Love, Until the End of Time, etc. Plus what is with the crappy, cheezy use of "Baby"....

Yes

the NO songs with backing vox are not the greatest NO songs anyway regardless of the backing vocals- but the vocals add something, like those diva voices you get in some acid house and techno records. btw, is there a transcription anywhere of what gillian is saying towards the end of Doubts even Here?
