Just recieved my copy of the cd single and i'm having doubts if this is the real thing. Looks like a cdr with a label stuck on it. Weren't they all factory pressed with a yellow ring in the middle??? And the cover is folded instead with puncture marks. Did i just buy a fake for $130????

Without CHECKING mine has a YELLOW COVER and does not sound anything like the way you have described!:nono: Regards Rocket Mick

Sorry mate but it sounds like you've definitely got a $130 fake.

The dead giveaway is the genuine UTEOT CD single is silver pressed, anything CDR no matter how nice looking is not the genuine article. Also the genuine sleeve is a properly made CD 'glossy' card-like insert and not a bit of folded paper. If you got this fake off eBay do you have a link to the finished auction? I'm curious to see it.

But as I say, if it's a CDR/Paper cover/No yellow ring then it's not a genuine UTEOT, condolences! :(

this is how it looked on ebay, you can't make out the cd tho. i can make scans of my copy if you want

That's a real bummer, sorry to hear that. Mine's only a cdr, but then it didn't cost me anything so I'm ok with that.

I can see why you thought it was genuine! The box+sleeve in that auction certainly looks like the real deal and reviewing the seller's previous items he seems to deal exclusively in NO related stuff. He has sold a couple of bootlegs (That Fac666 CD is a fake) though.

As I say the only UTEOT discs I know of are proper silver ones and not stamped CDRs. What colour is the data side of your disc? Could you post a scan of the disc face here? That's the best way to confirm whether you've got a real one or not.

my scanner makes a real nice rainbow out of the cd. i'm currently scanning my collection but haven't found a way yet to get rid of that. but the color is very light green, def a cdr so i'm def screwed here. you can see the cd here: ftp://recordscans.serveftp.com:21 user: electronic pass: fake

I'm sorry that you're having a bad day. Hope your fake dilemma teaches anyone a lesson about being careful on eBay.

Surely though - if you bought it in good faith without a picture of the actual cd you can get a refund:nonono:

This really sucks. I've been burned, too so I know first-hand how this feels. You do have some recourse with eBay and Paypal. I would start by contacting the seller. If you have no luck then eBay & Paypal. I'll be happy to walk you thru the process if needed. Shoot me an email.

Good luck in resolving this in a timely matter.

I've had a look at the scan on your FTP and must admit that's probably one of the most convincing fakes I've seen  but I'm certain that's not the genuine article!

I've owned two copies of UTEOT in 9 years (I foolishly traded my first copy) and both had a yellow inner ring and were silver pressed. The fact that yours is a stamped CDR automatically makes it's authenticity very suspect and from the way you described the sleeve it sounds like colour photocopy of some sort.

If I were you get onto PayPal and lodge a complaint ASAP. You are due your money back if the seller didn't mention it was a copy in his listing. He'll probably come up with any excuse under the sun including 'unwitting ignorance' but that is irrelevant when he has $130 of your money!

Let us know how you get on and best of luck :thumb:

Yup, I don't believe CDR's were used as promos back then? By the time of "Twisted Tenderness", CDR promos were more common, but back in 1997, printed CD promos were the norm.

The scan of the CD tends to show a CDR number round the inner ring, so I'd lay money that this is indeed a fake... :nonono:

Just got a mail from Paypal that they've decided in my favor and have given me $105 from the $130 back already. They're trying to get the remainder as well but i'm very happy with this result already, i thought i would never seen it again.

But thanks to all who replied to this thread
