...and seeing as Freebass are looking good
What do you think the chances of Electronic doing a new album are?
3 albums is nowhere near enough
I honestly think that if they did as many albums as New Order they would be on a par in terms of greatness

Erm, the Best Of Electronic scraped into the charts at about #194 didn't it?
The lack of promotion didn't help either. Freebass has been 'in the works' for about 3 years now with still no signs of a solid release date. Some interest in the music press but they should really get some tunes released soon.
A fourth Electronic album would be great but I seriously doubt it'll happen. New Order had a pretty busy two years in 2005-06 so I'd imagine Barney wants to kick back on his yacht for a good while. An interview with Johnny Marr not so long ago indicated there might be a future for Electronic in the form of film scores but with Marr having just joined Modest Mouse it would be very surprising if either found the time.
Plus I think Electronic are currently without a record deal; the Best Of was their final contractual obligation with Parlophone/EMI I believe.

All I can say to that is gutted :(
Don't get me wrong, I'd love a fourth album (or even an E.P.) of new material but barring a serious miracle I doubt one will ever happen.
Barney mentioned on the New Order Interview 2001 CD while Electronic were "still going" he would like his workload to quiet down and 6 years later I'd imagine he feels even more strongly about that.
Yeah, it is a bit of a bummer to think of a project that has been enjoyed so much is quite possibly not going to put a one off track or EP out. I could definitely handle another release from the two of them. I think they have real chemistry, musically speaking.
Still, best to go out on a high note if the dedication isn't there. I mean, I wouldn't want some half-effort that stinks up the catalog. ![]()

At some point they said that about the Star Wars movies, and look what happened.

Film music would be good to hear. Maybe even TV shows (they could rival The Other Two)!
Probably bullsh*t but................:

Here's the message:
News!!! Neil Tennant said that maybe Electronic will record a new single or...a new album!!!!! YUPIIIIIIIIIIIII
To be honest this doesn't mean a great deal without some sort of credible backup. Not saying it's not true but some specifics on where/when/how this Adriana heard this info would make it a bit more plausible.
Having said that it's not too far fetched a notion... with Hooky DJing and teeing up Freebass (for what seems like a lifetime) it seems logical Barney would either kick back on his yacht or try to kick start Electronic again ![]()
The only problem I could forsee is with Marr currently recording and touring as a "full time" member of Modest Mouse; it'll be curious to see if new Electronic material gets beyond the rumour mill. Marr may have no inclination to go back to Electronic right now as he's just scored a number 1 in the USA with Modest Mouse.

I think it's doubly dubious seeing as Mr. T was absent for about 2/3rds of Electronic's output.... Mr. Marr would have to return as well IMHO.
It would be wonderful to see Electronic bacjk in harness with a producer that can bring out the best elements of Barney and Johnny.
But let's face it, after a debut like GAWI, it was bound to be all downhill from there.
Personally, I'd prefer to see the next NO album see light of day before anything else.
