Hello all,

I hardly post on these forums, but I wanted to see how many of you agree with me opining that "Some Distant Memory" is one of Electronic's best songs. I hadn't listened to their debut album in quite a while, but I popped it into my CD player a few days ago and found myself listening to "Some Distant Memory" more times than the other tracks.

I've always liked that song, but for some reason it leaves a stronger impression on me today than do the other tracks on the album, wonderful as they may be.

top, top tune. Great opening.

I beefed up the low end using a WAV editor, perhaps a bit too much... I think it transforms the track quite nicely. The more prominent bassline gives the track a nice kick. Listen and see what you think... click on the play button in the eSnips music player.

DoJo also played drums on Electronic's "One Day" from the Raise the Pressure LP.

Some excellent drum fills on that track

Some Distant Memory is an absolutely gorgeous song. The album itself is awesome! I would describe it as being in the ranks of a really good New Order album, comparitively.

What Electronic gig is this from? Scanned it from the programme for the Cities In The Park fest 1991.Memory tells me it's from a Hacienda gig in January 1991 but the Electronic gigography doesn't list a gig for then.Pretty sure it's not a pic of Barney from a New Order gig and i doubt it's from any of the August 90 dates supporting Depeche

Has to be Hacienda Jan 91 then?

Yep, must be the Haçienda gig. This Peter Walsh photo is from the NME review:

It sure is their top tune, together with Gangster (which started out as a New Order song).
