Can you reduce the font size on the forum index pages? Maybe not make everything BOLD? Change the color of the thread subject and we'd be in business towards making a nice step forward in the look.

The design is awesome. Now could you just please stop locking threads when things start to get interesting?

design looks very professional.

looks great, main pages render a bit narrow down the middle in firefox, but not in a way that adversely affects the site.

Stop using f*in Windows Server 2003 Microsoft-IIS/6.0 I'm going to die one day and some moron stistician will work out how much of my life I spent waiting on this bloody site, retyping posts (yes, I'm getting better at remembering to clipboard my more verbose rants), and reading GIBBERISH IIS error pages, that ultimately say "arrrrggggh more than 6 people asked to to do something and I went poo poo in my pants"

I know what your gonna say tho, the whole thing's so deeply embroiled and entwined with FOOKING FP extensions and ASP and activeX and all that other bilge, that NO amount of lobotomizing will allow this site to work on apache without a total ground up recode, and no one expects you to do that, so we're boned. It's a shame really, cos you;ve done a great job on the place, it's become SO successful, that poor old "100 connections limit losedos" can't hack the pace, and there is really is jack you can do about it unless we all stump up for 10 identical servers, and a load balancer.

Of course, one advantage of IIS is that every time the winserver shites itself and reboots, if yer lucky, the site workds really well when it comes back online before everyone realizes it;s back.

This is a lot better now, the left margin issue now sorted out.

you can't force fit them, or script them to the right size ?( I dunno what the windows equiv of imagemagick is, but a simple script to munch all incomming files to standard size ( and damn the aspect ratio) should be easy enough whatever it is.)

It still looks narrow in my firefox, I use a high zoom by default, are other firefox users in the same boat? (wish I could remember my password, I'd use opera...but foxy has the cookie so I keep usin it)

Like I say it COULD be my zoom settings, which are disaggreeing with something you've specified. Which is why I really should try to remember my password and use opera....cos it zooms properly (note to firefox evangelists:fuck off!, no really save your lies, I've used em all, and opera,closed and evil tho it is, works best too as long as you don't ask it to render TOO much ie quality code) only browser I ever seen that can do it....and so fast too.

As for image crushin, I suppose I was hoping for a little too much for a serverside image control lib for DOS. Short of bolting The_gimp into your IIS setup, I don't see it being easy.

Anyway, FWIW, the images look fine here.

I'll take a screener of the narrowness if you like, I'm sure it's down to me pushing text size up, but the frames or tables or whatever the hell, being defined in such a way as to stop them expanding with the text.

Oh it also renders just GORGEOUSLY in Konqueror with my over-riding "ceremony-esque" CSS.

The new design looks good, but it is not very functional. Reading the forum is quite painful because 50% of the screen is "wasted" with design elements and unnecessary information. The actual forum screen is narrowed to 50% of the screen. Reading is not that much fun anymore...

I agree that at least the extreme right and left margins are totally wasted space.

SO I'm not the only one with a sliver of forum and a lot of nice blue stuff then? Feel better now. Oddly, considering the "fluff and eye candy" factor has gone up, I'd SWEAR the site is running better.

I'm afraid I have no idea what my screen resolution is, Nic. But surely the phenomenon of large blank spaces at right and left will occur at some point when you scroll down, regardless of screen resolution? It's not so bad, no, and I recognize that the portion of the screen where ads appear serves a necessary function. It's really the blank spaces at the extreme right and left that seem unnecessary.

Actually it is seriously bad, because reading the forum becomes a pain in the eye when the actual text is narrowed to 50% of the screen, and a text line contains very little text... Not much fun anymore...
