I have only heard "Get your hands off my woman",so was wondering if their album is any good. I think that song rocks and is a pleasant surprise coming out of the blue.And I wonder if the singers jocks are too tight underneath his lycra and spandex jumpsuit?

Don't agree with you there, SP1; I think they're pretty good. Buffy, if anyone you know has the album, try borrowing it and see what you think.
The Darkness are OK, but you shouldn't mention any other band apart from The Cure at this message board. Naughty. 
They're crap! If there's one sort of music that should never be revived for kitschy nostaglia value, it's hair metal. It's bad enough that Kiss and Poison are still around and touring this summer.

Already confessed: tried to hate them, I wouldn't really be supposed to like that kind of stuff, but I have to admit they're fantastic and I really like them, they're one of the best new bands of the recent times. If you gotta be retro, do it for fun, and just check their christmas video on their site thedarknessrock.com Of course they don't take themselves seriously, at least, while the fookin Strokes believe to have attitude but are much more ridiculous in fact. Anyway it must also be said they're top guitar players and have talent for good tunes, Love Is Only A Feeling is a bloody great song, much better than the bands they try to emulate. Other songs have harder riffs which are just cool. All with some sense of humour, they're just a honest joke after all... People talk about hair metal, but no hair metal band had such good tunes. I see them more as a weird cross between AC DC, Spinal Tap and Queen: great hard guitars + humour + talent for tunes. Anyway proof of their greatness is the fact I'm not alone in saying I tried to hate them but had to surrender... there are many bands which people try desperately to like because they're supposed to do, because it's trendy, because they sound like some of their favourite bands (hello The Rapture), and mostly people can't like them as hard as they try. Me and other new wave fans tried to hate The Darkness, but we like them, even as we didn't want to! When a band conquers people who're supposed to hate them and their genre (I don't like no other hair metal band), it's just great.
The only darkness I prefer is that of my room when I'm asleep. Other than that, the band is utter shite.
I've heard two of their works...and I didn't care for either of them...but what does it really matter???:p

Okay, i like the single you have "Get Your Hands Off My Woman", but only because i think it's hilarious. When i first heard it i thought it was a joke song, i did'nt realise they were actually serious about what they were doing, but i don't think i could stand a whole album of the singers' "high pitched sqweaky notes", but i'll give it a go if you do.:D
I have no time for them , I had no time for Queen either , still to each their own and one of the nephews proffeses to be a Darkling , so maybe I'm just a little too old.
Thought the Xmas single was a triumph of hype over content though .
You should see ppl sing "I believe in a thing called love" at karaoke. It's hilarious. I've seen ppl butcher it left and right. I think this season's American Idol has someone that bucthered it as well.

When they came out I was of the opinion that they were a manufactured band made for a TV company (ITV in the UK?) to see how many people could be persuaded to follow a band just because they were told that this was the next big thing.
Nothing since has changed my opinion.
The Darkness are a big pile of steaming manure and they make me laugh (as in "at", not "with") As various people have noted they are a strictly one-trick pony with their recycled Queen riffs/moves having a finite lifespan. I guarantee they will sink without a trace in a year, perhaps two at the very most if they decide to desperately attempt a third album of cliche ridden pomp-rock. But they will sink without a trace. I fucking hated Queen and Brian May's a cunt with his frizzy hair and that godawful racket he made on top of Fuckingham Palace for the loathesome Jubilee celebrations. I really fail to see how he's considered a guitar genius, he just fretwanks and goes into self-indulgent "jazz" mode (To quote Tony Wilson, he enjoys it far more than the audience) far too often. He doesn't vary, he just does the same old shite much like his band did during their heyday.
Also, the lead ponce in The Darkness is perhaps the ugliest twat I have ever had the misfortune to lay eyes on. He looks like he's been in four car crashes.

Perhaps my post was a little strong, but hey, somebody had to say it! Everyone's entitled to disagree and love The Darkness/Queen yaddayaddayadda that's a personal choice but I personally can't abide them. Queen less so, they have done a handful of good songs in their time but I'm not a regular listener. I never used to dislike Brian May so much but that Jubilee incident earned him the "cunt" tag forever more. I was flipping through the channels and came across him on top of Buckingham palace and I nearly fell over. It was THE most tasteless and tuneless thing I've ever seen; he massacred an already dull national anthem and actually made it worse! He looks retarded too, with the jet black frizzy afro statement. Alot of my friends consider him a guitar genius, but I regularly point out (to no avail) that fitting fifteen thousand notes into one riff does not denote being an amazing guitarist, simply an amazing "fretwanker".
Fret-wanking's my choice of phrase to describe guitarists like Brian May and Mark Knofler. The twat from The Darkness simply emulates them. I think it's an entirely appropriate phrase. Both May and Knofler are competent guitarists, but they have their rigid styles and don't really deviate from them or try to do anything else with the instrument. That makes them boring and certainly not guitar heroes in my book.
