I personally never quite had a problem with Barney's "WOOP!" sounds in live recordings, even less so when seeing the band perform in person. The vocalization helps inject some energy into songs that would seem somewhat flat otherwise. Case in point, Bizarre Love Triangle: an audience favorite and obviously a favorite of Barney's(judging from the whoops and the dancing), so the energy is already running high when the song comes up in the playlist, as it always does. The shrieking right before the launch into the chorus seems so appropriate that you realize you're joining in yourself.
On the otherhand however, the whistles are just plain barbarous and harder on the ears than 45 minutes of Chemical Brothers as the opening act
