I'm a sceptic. I love reading about those phenomena, gives me goosebumps every time.

I had some strange encounters myself. But I still don't know if that was really ghosts... We had a strange knocking in our house once. As if someone banged on the door very heavily with a stick. It was the room my gran'dad died in. The knocking was heard a for couple of days always at the same daytime. We had (and still have) a family agreement - After death you have to make contact to the surviving somehow, just to prove if it is possible. Perhaps my grandad remembered the promise. The knocking was never heard again when my Mum asked if it was him...

They're psionic or quantum afterimages that remain on the terrestrial plain for a time after death. They tend to flit into other persons' subconscious and manifest through the sympathetic nerve system, which is why certain people see them and others don't.

I find it interesting that the 'orbs' generally have a unified pattern; a sort of bright outer ring and a more translucent (smelt wrong) inner core.

But 'Most Haunted' is a bit cack without him and that Karl bloke does my head in most of them are genuine, but he's definitely a fake!

i wish to slightly restate my point. perhaps we do hang around for a while after we go, but only for a short while. after my mother passed on i did have a couple of strange experiences. one night for example i did feel someone stroking my hair, like she sometimes did, then again it could all have been in my mind.

Maybe it was your Mum, or maybe it was a memory. I'm a believer myself and I'm sure that those who have left the physical can still keep in touch with us, but I know a lot of people probably think I'm talking crap....

The spookiest thing that's ever happened to me was back in 2001.My future ex-wife was still living with her mum and brother.All three of them had had an encounter in the house,but all of them were too embarrassed to bring it up.Someone/thing sat on the edge of the bed,stuff scattered around room ,amongst other things. Her mum decided to go to a psychic,who suggested that there is a troubled spirit in the house.And the one way you can get rid of him/her/it is to put a lighted candle in every room of the house. Which was great.Apart from when I went back to my own house,one night.After I went to bed. I felt as though I was being dragged around my mattress in a circular motion,duvet ended up on the floor.Thinking there was someone in the house,I dashed downstairs to have a go...and all the doors and windows were shut.

I put myself down as a believer of souls caught on the planes between life and afterlife and also poltergeists as random adolescent psychic outbursts. The spookiest thing to ever happen to me is possibly an instance of latent clairvoyance in relation to a late aunt of mine(my Mum's sister). She was always a heavy smoker and was actually anorexic as well(not a great combo- just think of a female equivilent to Vini Reilly). Of course she ended up with lung cancer and had half of one removed. I got up as per usual to get ready for work and felt a very odd compulsion to dress from head to toe in black(including undies and socks). I explained this to my work colleagues when I got there as well. Halfway through the day, I received a call from my Mum saying that my aunt has just passed over. Needless to say I was given the rest of the day off. I think that defo qualifies as seriously spooky shit.

The worst feeling I ever had was when i returned from the theatre on October 23, 1999 and the phone rang. I knew the caller was going to tell me that my father died. it wa about midnight. He had cancer so I knew there was a possibility but I live in denial.

i know how you feel. sometimes i think my mother's death is just a big practical joke being played on me, and that she'll turn up again tomorrow.

they do exist, because i've had an experience with one. it scared the hell out of me at the time, but looking back it was rather interesting.

I was working alone in an office complex about 4 years ago and as i walked into reception i heard a womans voice distinctly say "OH"..it came from the stairwell and sounded close, i turned round and theres no-one there. I dont mind admitting that i ran out of that place. I found out later that no-one likes to work alone in that building because of a ghost of a woman, when i found that out i just knew that that was what i had heard.

i have seen , or thought i have seen a ghost at least 3 times and it was all when i lived in a friends house, his grandfather had died there a year or so Prior and having know his grandfather i was sure i saw him, or quick flashes of him, i told my friend and he and his brother told me that they saw him quite a few times as well. thats the only place i ever saw a ghost. my father & brother died about a year apart and i never saw or had weird things afterwards, except for maybe dreams. now seeing my friends grandfather was not scary it just seemed strange, but the scariest thing i have experienced was at another friends house. his room was in the basement of his parents house and he used to swear to me that he would hear kids running in the hall outside his room all the time. i slept there and never heard a thing, but on thanksgiving his niece who was about 3 at the time was in the room with us, left on her own and was staring at a corner in the hall and said "hi" her dad went outside and she said to her father, "look at the boy", then she preceded to talk to the empty corner for about 5 minutes, then tunrd to us and said " look at the boy, he is a ghost". that freaked me out
