MTO is not a song, it's just pieces of music put together randomly. Nothing interesting in it. Liar may not be a great song, but at least you can sing along while you couldn't even whistle MTO.
Totally agree with DepthCharge... Liar is easily their worst... This is the all Nationwide Conference 3rd round FA Cup clash, that exists solely to let one of the minnows through to be hammered by one of the big boys in the next round... MTO's alright, but even faced with Liar vs bland R'n'B tosh
I'm not sure I could bring myself to vote for Liar...

Completely agree. Liar isn't their best but if you take it in context i.e. a pop song with a pop chorus then it's by no means unlistenable. Barney's lyrics in the verses are alright, obviously aimed at Tony Wilson's lack of business acumen regarding Factory.
MTO has got to be in the same category as Theme a'la MGM and JD's As You Said; the "not proper songs" category. It's beyond forgettable and curiously one of the very few New Order tracks I wouldn't care if they never reissue on CD.
MTO for me... great experimental acid house track, really like it. I actually like Liar too, despite it's undeniable Pet Shop Boys sound and general poppiness.

Is Liar the one with the rap at the beggining?, sorry but I never memorised most of the track titles from Re-pubic.If so then it is shite but has a 'catchy' chorus.
MTO, I haven't the foggiest.... So I will go with that!
I don't think there's any speculation as to what I voted for.
This track reminds me of a time when I thought New Order would cross over into pure dance music. It represented the possibilities of dance music.
Being in America at such a young age, I wasn't yet exposed to all the UK dance 12"s that were coming out and all the Chicago house/Detroit techno that had already been released.
Being a white kid transplanted from NY and living in Florida, New Order was pretty avant garde when I was 13 years old and this MTO track was just fantastic.
It still holds a dear place in my crates.
C'mon guys... Vote MTO... I could put up with any of my slightly random faves getting voted out in the first round, but not with Liar getting through...

Oh, and having listened to all the tracks in the current first round clashes last night... have to say that despite disliking Liar immensely, I did actually forget what a good little tune MTO was, so another reason for everyone to vote for it and Liar out...

MTO, cos it's on the soundtrack for a strange indie film about Berlin, circa '95...
Along with Salvation, Sputnik, Jesus Saves and a couple of This Mortal Coil tracks...
AND NO ONE I'VE EVER SPOKEN TO ABOUT NEW ORDER HAS EVER HEARD OF THIS FILM!!!
But it does exist cos I have a copy of it right here...
Having said all that, I voted for Liar...how does it go, did I get confused with Chemical or something?
