Easily went for Mr. Disco, as Here To Stay, as good as it is, has been a bit overrated by other fans IMO.

Tough one, but went for HTS, simply because after some of the disappointments of GR, it was a timely reminder of just how good NO can be...

here to stay is their best effort ever, IMO. it's a perfect combination, as well: NO plus the chemicals.

In a nutshell.

clearly, a 'classic vs classic' scenario... Here to Stay remains one of my all time faves.

It's a tough decision for me as well, but I voted Mr. Disco. I should have voted for HTS since that's the only one out of these that I have heard. Well, Mr. Disco is on Technique, right?

well, I think I would not have hesitated that much if I read this first... Mr.Disco is 100% New Order and Here to Stay is a mixture of genres.

P.S. : If Mister long blond hair from Chemical Brothers reads this, I would like to apology for my Manchester friend who said what he said about you... (we were at the Frog & Princess, Paris, afternoon of the 21st of June 1999).

Let me explain you the scene. The pub was almost empty and my friend Jon was sitting between Mister long blond hair from Chemical Brothers and me. I told him about a possible cooperation between NO & CB, without knowing why in fact... As he was saying to me what he thought of CB, I suddendly realised that the third man, the one behind my friend, was Mister long blond hair from Chemical Brothers... I felt very embarrased... And the more I tried to change the subject of the conversation, the more my friend spitted on them... Mister long blond hair from Chemical Brothers went on reading his news but I clearly saw that he was listenning very carefully to what my mate was saying...

Maybe Here to Stay is a good song because Mister long blond hair from Chemical Brothers remembered this scene while working later with New Order, who knows ?...

i like mr.disco but it sounds a bit outdated. HTS is a perfect summary of their career. Great redemption song.

Mr. Disco is such a pure New Order song. It's dark but not whiny, synthy and dancy but has great guitar/bass rifts throughout. How it could ever lose to some Chemical Brothers compilation is beyond me. Then again, I've seen crazier song choices and song omission on Retro, the most misrepresenting box set imaginable so anything is possible.

Another tough one, but Mr Disco gets my vote. I like Here to Stay, but certainly don't consider it to be classic like some.

I prefer the power behind HTS.

HTS. Never really liked Mr Disco.

The lyric:

"This open book Yet to be read"

jars with me. The way Barney sings it, it sounds like the words should be in a different order. Otherwise, it's brilliant.

So it's Mr Disco for me. That's brilliant all the way through.

Edit: There's too much repetition in the lyrics of HTS too. Reminds me of Smash Hits, where they used to put repeat to fade when they'd got tired of repeating the last line.

I Love both these songs, but I voted HTS. I was maybe swayed by the extended instrumental version from Retro which made me nostalgic for the days of "Dub" versions on the 12" B sides.
