Personally, Id plump for those Russian girlies. Hookys bass would sound GREAT on that! Not sure Barney could manage the long shrieks, tho`....
Which hit should New Order cover...?

And at the gigs Barney and Hooky could share a passionate kiss.
Yuck. ![]()
Egad, what a lineup. I also suppose Pink Floyd, just cause I can't ever imagine of the other songs done by 'em.
'N Hey! Mighty Quinn is a Bob Dylan song.
Of the list above, I'd be curious to hear Enter Sandman :D
But as related in a "Dream Cover" thread near you (Ricardo? :D), I'd sure see them do 1979 by the Smashing Pumpkins.....

I wish I had a dollar every time you ask me to search for a thread. ;)

Hmm, the only song I know from those is the Macarena, and I LOATHE that song...
So I'd vote for "Other"!

You only know 'Macarena'? Where have you been all your life??!!!!
They WOULD do a great cover of 'Sanctury', I`ll agree with that. Believe it or not, most of the ones I listed were as a (ssh!) joke. My bad!

Good call - Enter Sandman would be very interesting
None of these listed. However, in a previous thread many moons ago I gave a list of songs I think it'd be interesting hearing them cover and on the top of my list was "Paint it Black" by the Stones. Ian McCullogh from Echo & the Bunnymen covered it really well, why not our Barney? I think it'd "interesting" - freely interpret that as you like. ;)
how come nobody is voting for Here to Stay???
has anyone heard this??? is it absolute shite???
oh wait...it's by KORN...of course it's shite!!!!

I love 'Too Many People' but I think it sounds more like a house track than a New Order song.
What`s all that bollocks about 'Paint It Black'? The Rolling Stones are just a geriatric joke, New Order would be better off releasing an album of Peter Andre songs!
The most appropriate Stones cover I ever heard was this piss-funny version of 'Jumpin Jack Flash' done by a German group with a Stephen Hawking-voiced singer. They also did 'Anarchy In The UK' & 'My Generation' tho....
I sincerely hope this thread was intended in jest, but having read some of the starter's other threads, I ain't so sure !

Hey, I resent that! Sure, maybe expecting New Order might one day cover a Russian Lesbian Hit or a Nu-Metal Skater Song might be strectching it a bit, but I truly DO want to know which N.O member people think would be the best professional wrestler!
There's only about 4 people in the UK give a fuck about wrestling, and none of them are New Order !

you may be right. considering hooky's sartorial sense and hairstyles, he's probably more into NASCAR.
I would vote for those Russian gals coz they are lesbian and I guess it would be funny how Bernard and the boys would cover a lesbian song. Give them a try. By the way I'm not lesbian!!!!!! I just love how women love each other because they are cute. That's it. New Order is a great band enough to cover anything. P.S. By the way I don't know the other bands.

How do you know if New Order like wrestling or not? I wasnt aware you are Hookys housekeeper or Gillian`s gardener.
Honestly, some of you lot skipped the queue when God was handing out senses of humour....
And you obviously skipped the queue when sense was handed out. Learn a bit of etiquette first.....
This clearly doesn't have much to do with New Order, so could a moderator please shift it to the "irrelevant shite" forum please ?

Etiquette? Oh, la di da, Timothy! I wasn`t aware one had to be well-up on the finer points of modern society to a) be a New Order fan & b) post on this board
And as for being "irrelevent shite", that, my friend, is what makes the world go round. If all we had to do was talk about the serious side of New Order here, things would be very boring, & topics would get repeated too often, like they are already

You're bringing me down.

By the way, 'friend' is a figure of speech. Or haven`t you found out what one of those is yet?
I'd like to see New Order do Here To Stay by KORN and then release it with their song of the same name, the two songs would make an interesting juxtaposition, and i have a funny feeling Hooky would LOVE to turn his bass up for the KORN version.
Definitely Walking in Memphis, with Gillian on lead vocals, Hooky on accordion, Stephen on slide guitar and Barney as Bez.
I have to vote for any Pink Floyd song for NO to cover, because they are so similiar in how they present songs (in some ways). But I would have to choose other and "Welcome to the MAchine" by Pink Floyd instead.......listen to it and tell me it doesn't sound like New Order material.
Although I like Metallica, particularly "Enter Sandman," NO couldn't do the song justice. Maybe they ought to cover "A night like this".. or "A Forest" - but that's already been done. Maybe they can cover the lambada song, and people will start dancing like it's 1990... then again, that may be a bad idea.

They were probably too busy staring at kylie to notice the blue monday elements
could they even see her??? She's all of what 4 foot tall, and can't weigh much more than say, 90 pounds???
It has to be "Macarena" and if it is just to see them (especially Barney) do the dance. :happytongue:

He'd probably forget the words.
I've always said I'd love to see them cover "Paint it black". Ian and Echo & the Bunnymen did a very good job it (IMO) and I'd like to see Barney give it a go in its full glory!
By the way, why is it on these older threads the prior comments are all missing?

That's all the money worth folks... ![]()
none of the above.
bottom line by PIL would be awesome. perfect bassline for hooky and it's in barney's vocal range, more or less.
I'm only happy when it rains by Garbage or Dont fear the reaper by Blue oyster cult. I'd have just loved JD to have covered that famous Monty Python song (Naah not the lumberjack one, the other one
)
PINK FLOYD!!!
Cover the entire Dark Side...album

That I would happily walk across a field barefoot to see.
