That i can understand mate, if u dont like the Smiths in the first place, then i guess any cover is ok ;).
As for me and the rest who love them, it was nice to see that God himself agrees. As he said to Tony Wilson in the last scene of the 24 hour party ppl movie, "its a pity u dint sign the Smiths" 
Hm...I think the band "The Radio Department" whould make a great cover. They sounds very similiar to New Order, but if I had to choose between these - The White Stripes (some track from Get Ready)
I could actually see Justin Timberlake being good with a rendition of 'Angel Dust' or 'Love Less' - after seeing how amusing his video for that Cry Me A River song was, I think he's got a sense of humor in him that could be interesting to see replayed through one of those NO songs.
