  1. Hooky's bass, Billy Corgan's guitar
  2. Billy's vocals, lyrics are rather poor.
  3. Part of my late 2001 NewOrder renessance, yet nowhere near as close to my fave. Too generic sounding in my opinion.
  4. 45%
  5. "Dream Attack", the ending synth/guitar part is as close to heaven as any other song I've ever heard.

  1. "I've drunk in every bar in town"
  2. It doesn't sound anything like New Order

  5. Yeah, I'd go with Dream Attack; it's a masterclass in how to go from sublime 'rock' to 'electronic' in one song -like one of those Escher drawings you can't see the joins but it merger seamlessly

  1. Hooky's bass, esp. on any "live" performance. So emotionally charged.
  2. Lyrics appear shoehorned to fit the melody.
  3. The best track on the best comeback album....
  4. 75%
  5. The Perfect Kiss. Monumental. Majestic. Melodic. Oh, and M1 of course.

  1. The lovely close-harmony singing.
  2. Nothing to complain about, really
  3. Love/Hate is a bit strong for this one ... quite like is nearer the mark.
  4. 70%
  5. "Dream Attack" too! I thought no-one else liked it! It closes the best side of their best album (IMHO). And I love the lyrics, it's very optimistic sounding. Otherwise, "Elegia" which is always astonishing.

  1. It's just an average NO track.
  2. Corgan shouldn't lend his vocals, and if he is to lend a guitar part, he should just bust out a solo, or 5, like he did on Zwan's album or SP's Gish.
  3. Since SP is my favorite band, I wish NO would have used Corgan better. But, in comparing this to RTS (or Rotten Shag), this is the better collaboration song.
  4. 65%
  5. Right now, it's HTS to TPK. Don't ask me why.

Ok.

  1. Hooky's bass in the latter part of the song
  2. Some of the lyrics
  3. Sounds really good LOUD while driving
  4. 3.5 out of 5
  5. TPK. I usually like the more song type ones, but the bridge in that track is awesome.

  1. The intro...and the guitar lines. Hooky's bass is relatively pedestrian in comparison.
  2. When Barney and Billy sing together...like mixing pernod and coffee. And the lyrics...ugh.
  3. This to me is the *worst* song on Get Ready, yes, even worse than RTS. "Don't want to own a key/Don't want to wash my car". Yeah, right...I doubt these days that Mr. Corgan suds up his autos or drives himself around.

  5. The local "modern rock" station around here (before it transformed into complete rubbish) used to play Dream Attack quite frequently. But I'll have to go with Lonesome Tonight...it has the perfect balance of rock and electronics, of distance and warmth, of grace and pluck. Or should I go with All Day Long? Or Leave Me Alone? Or Age Of Consent? Or Cries And Whispers? Hmmm... :duel:

  1. The best bit - not an unpleasant tune

  2. The worst bit - the idea that Corgan could make a positive contribution to the song

  3. Why you love/hate it - cannot f...ing stand it. It devalues everything New Order have ever been. Guest musicians my arse.

  4. A percentage rating - 2%, It is the worst of the worst.

  5. What is your all-time favorite New Order song, and why - Perfect Kiss. Perfect.

  1. The best bit: Hooky's bass, and a very catchy chorus
  2. The worst bit: The fact that it was not released as a single.
  3. Why you love/hate it: I remember downloading this one, expecting nothing, and I couldn't stop listening to it for 2 hours in a row, I simply loved it from the start, and I still do... for me it's the best song on Get Ready..
  4. A percentage rating: 95%
  5. What is your all-time favorite New Order song, and why.: Run, simply love it, the bass line and the guitar are awesome, plus I must say the break at the end of the song is one of New Order's finest moment.. plus Bernard's vocal are quite fine all over Technique...

How much Smashing Pumpkins have you listened to? This is far from being one of the best things Corgan's ever done. Heck,if the lyrics weren't so bland and throw-away on Zwan's Mary, Star of the Sea, I'd say that the whole album was far better than Turn My Way. But, even Barney's lyrics sound better than most of the stuff on MSOTS, although the guitar and drums are pretty amazing on most of the songs.

Best Bit: The music isn't all that bad... Worst Bit: Billy Corgan. Nothing against him, he just doesn't seem to fit here. Love/Hate: This song bores me to tears. The whole song drags a bit, nothing all that special to listen to. Bad song out of a great band. I can't even get it to grow on me. Rating: 10% Fav Song? Too many good ones to choose from...

  1. Barney's lyrics: I drank in every bar in town, filled my cup when I was down, saw the things I wanted to see, became the man I wanted to be, but then somehow I lost my way, I've got to get back there today...
  2. I wasn't too keen on the Billy Corgan collaboration; thought it would be a bit more commercial given Billy did sing on it, but it was never released as a single; should have been.
  3. I love the song mostly for the lyrics; classic Barney lyrics; also love the chorus...I don't wanna be like other people are

  1. the chorus
  2. that bit of silence, even before the synth comes in
  3. The melody is great, the drumming is solid, Billy rocks (guitar + vocals)... even though some of the lyrics are ...iffy 4)well, i'd give it 80% or higher. This song and Crystal made me get into New Order.... even though I had owned "Substance" for a while prior
  4. either Crystal, Tempation, True Faith, or Perfect Kiss

best bit - lyrics are classic barney lyrics...half way to genius, half way ridiculous

worst bit - i cannot stess enough my absolute HATRED for billy corgan and the fact that newOrder collaborated with him still upsets me to this day. i literally feel sick and angry...i'm shaking now. major mistake...much, much worse than WIFM!

why - umm...overall i actually like this song..corgan takes a back seat and the overall vibe combined with some great music by the boys and this one's a winner.

percent - 75

fav tune - Dream Attack...my all time favorite song by any artist!

  1. Best thing is that I find myself singing it at odd times, though it's not my fave tune from Get Ready.

  2. Worst thing is Billy Corgan; have never been a fan of him or his band, though his vocals aren't as painful as from what I've heard on the radio, so I'll give him that.

  3. I don't skip it when I play GR, but the song won't find it's way on to very many mix tapes and such, just a rather pleasant few minutes.

  4. Rating of 60%

  5. Ceremony thrilled me to no end at its release, and still does to this day, though there are many, many fine choices that NO have put out since then.

  1. Best bit - I really like the intro, Corgan's voice coming in the way it does. Played it to death when it was first made available through, who was it, 1645hrs?
  2. Worst bit - due to the inclusion of Corgan, I don't suppose we'll ever see it live again?
  3. Why you love/hate it - it's a bit MOR built more for an American audience than a British one. It's solid and dependable but nowt special.
  4. A percentage rating - 50%
  5. All-time favorite. Ceremony and Temptation are way out there ahead of the rest of the pack, but Ceremony just pips it. Too many reasons to mention. They're not simply songs, they're soundtracks to a billion portions of my life, so many memories wrapped up in each track.

1 The line "I've drank in every bar in town" fuckin spot on that:D

2 Don't really dislike anything about this one.

3 It was magic seeing this debuted at the Olympia in Scouseland, a great song, and Corgans voice blends in well with Barney's.

4 80%

5 Temptation, it's all been said before, where's my story disappeared to Nicos?

  1. Best bit: The intro, the bass and the chorus (one for the dreamer in us all)
  2. Worst bit: Billy flaming Corgan - he shouldn't have been allowed to sing. Even I can do better than that!
  3. Why I like it: Not sure, I just do
  4. Percentage rating: 70%
  5. Fave NO song ever and why: TF, because it's got good memories for me (holidays etc.)

  1. the "guitar solo" midways in
  2. Corgan starting off the vocals was stupid. The lyrics are also especially stupid ones for a rich little shit like Barney (or billy baldy, for that matter) to sing. yeah, fuck off and sail your yacht....you'll want to be out at sea when the class war starts.
  3. a letdown after the first two songs on the album. and for god's sake, get billy corgan a real job...preferably doing something where I don't have to hear him. I like some Pumpkins stuff okay, but I don't like it mixed in with my Order.
  4. 68%
  5. hmm...The Perfect Kiss (substance version)....because it's the most densely layered song that rises to a wonderful climax and doesn't linger too long (like the 12" version) before coming to a full stop.

  1. Best bit - The chorus, I really identify with the lyrics. I don't want to be like other people are, don't wanna own a key, don't wanna wash my car, don't wanna have to work like other people do etc. Perfect lyrics for non-conformist arty types.
  2. Worst bit - The fact that NO diehards are dissing the contribution of Billy Corgan, he helps make the song what it is and it is a real NO classic.
  3. Love it, one of the best songs of recent years, by anyone.
  4. 100%
