NO haven't been playing it live for a long time. And some live versions of it are so great that they've made me not to listen to the album version that much anymore.
"Oh how I can not bear the thought of you". "Your hair was long, your eyes was blue, guess what I'm gonna do to you." The angry delivery Barney sometimes did live. The guitar and bass riffs in unison after the opening sequence.
Yes, and it also makes me want to decapitate every bastard who's ever done me wrong. :evil2:
Lack of self-criticsm. Har har.
Though you didn't ask for a percentage rating, I'd probably give the song a good ol' 95%.
- worst bit: The fact that I havent heard any of these 'brilliant' live versions - caus I think the album version is fairly crap
- best bit: The 'guess what im gonna do to you' line
- does it make you wanna dance? Nah, on that album it'id be Sunrise & PFD(This time of night - top song!)
- the worst thing about yourself: The fact that I talk as much shite sober as drunk

Oh, yeah, Id give it 57% (hopefull that the live versions will rate much higher)
* My 100th post - finally
*
- worst bit:

me neither :(
best bit: ok, guess this is everyone's favorite line: 'guess what I'm gonna do to you' and 'oh, how I cannot bear the thought of you'
does it make you wanna dance? every time
worst thing about yourself: I put mayonnaise on everythin' I eat
Worst--the keys, synth and sequensors sounds too stupid. I had this song played in a busload of hippies. The driver just got done playing Love Vigilantes and I asked him to play the last track. Truly dreaded it. Someone said that Face Up was the epitome with everything wrong about 80s music. If only It was the bradford debut, they'd see.
Best--lyrics Guess what I'm going to do to you
Dance--yes, even if it sounds a bit stupid
Worst thing about me--procrastination
When I first heard "High-Life" I just liked it as I did the entire album. But then as time went by I started to feel funny about the song. I remember my dad asking me one day, what is this clown's music? I've heard some live versions, but they all are just crazy, crazy!!!! ![]()
I think the song needs a remake or re-mixing to be saved. :)
The Royal Albert Hall version is the definitive one for me - Raw and untamed, and I WAS THERE ![]()
- worst bit: it's horribly dated now - really rooted in 1985
- best bit: that we saw it develop live
- does it make you wanna dance? nothing makes me wanna dance
- the worst thing about yourself: easily led
Worst bit - It's only five minutes long.
Best bit - Where to begin? I treasure this song as much now as I did when I first heard it all those years ago. It's perfect. And I've yet to hear a live version better the recording, but that's just me.
Does it make me wanna dance? I'm blaring it right now and chair dancing as I type this. That answer your question?
Worst thing about myself - My selfishness, my laziness, and my shoes.
worst bit: the vocals are barney's worst, most strained and off-key ever on a studio track
best bit: the beginning that sounds very ominous and promising but then becomes a silly dance track with a good sequencer line
danceability: yes
worst thing about myself: let's just put it this way...don't dig up my garden.

Never heard "Confusion," then, huh? ![]()
True, he's under the notes a in a few spots, but it's the most emotionally charged vocal he's ever recorded, which more than makes up for being technically imperfect. I'll bet they even recorded a few takes that were more in the pocket but decided to go with raw and honest instead.
And apropos of nothing - everyone should go out and buy The Incredibles and I (heart) Huckabees.
worst bit - Incurably outdated by modern standards. The track all your friends and colleagues will condemn as the dorkiest thing they've ever heard. Until recently, New Wave was almost as dirty a word as Disco used to be.
best bit - Makes me want to put on the Devo mirrorshades and don the Members' Only jacket.
dance? - Like Simon LeBon in the Planet Earth video
worst thing - Want the most for as little work as possible.
Worst Bit: none, really
Best Bit: the answer above would leave "everything else"
Does it make you wanna dance? Sure, makes me sing out loud in the car as well.
The worst thing about yourself: Being barely able to tolerate the intolerable......
