- ULTRAVIOLENCE-

Ok, probably jumping the gun here in some manner, but I'm interested to hear thoughts on 'Ultraviolence'. I know that 'Age of Consent' and 'Your Silent Face' are generally considered to be the ultimate tracks from PC&L, but this track is my personal favourite from the album:

Can't believe we let this gem escape the Weekly Song Review until now!

Best bit - the sequencer line it had in the live versions

Worst bit - the muted recorded version that doesn't do the song justice

Love/hate - a live classic, one of their best live songs

Percentage - 75%

What would I say to Wilson? - "Didn't the hangliding episode tell you anything about Daedalus and Icarus, Wilse?"

1. a very nice song on PCL, fits nicely as a cousin of BM
2. lacking something....a bit too repetitive maybe
3. it's a very solid track on a solid album. the common themes of BM variations on PCL is good. to me, it works best as part of PCL as a whole than as a song by itself.

I met Wilson at some presentation event at Doncaster Dome last year for unsigned recording artists. He gave a speech on the best way to get noticed in the music business.....yeah I took in every word (obviously). H ehasn't changed!

I agree that the live version of Ultraviolence pisses on the recorded version, it's one of those 'shivers down yer spine' type songs. Not seen the band perform live since 1985 truth be told.....I really should try and catch up on some concerts.
