  1. "Hey now, who's that with you? What's that thing I saw him give you? Turn round, don't come no closer, he took it from a shoulder holster."

  2. Not calling it Road to Ruin

  3. I loathed it at first for the same reasons I (still) loathe Rock the Shack, but the guitars here are more in the vein of epic, roaring, corny single string Britpop soloism that I enjoy.

  4. A solid 80%

  5. Trip to Japan, hopefully catching the Order again.

1 Best bit: everything but ... see No.2 2 Worst bit: "why don't you put that gun righ down" part 3 Love/hate: it's the fooking guitars I love so much 4 Percentage: 95% 5 What you got planned for the summer? Hyde Park, June 24 ;)

best: some of the guitar/keyboards

worst: Lyrics are pedantic. If barney had heard them when he was young he would have told the singer to piss off

Neutral

40% for NO song (80% against all other bands ;)

1 I like the guitar interlude just before the third chorus, and the bass during the chorus 2 It drags for a while, seems to lack a bit of 'something' 3 Growing on me a fair bit, disliked it at first 4 I'd give it a 60-70 5 Switzerland for a week, Putney for three, back in Cal for the rest

Great song, especially the guitars in the middle and at the end. I think Peter Buck of REM is jealous.

1 Best part is just about everything, sounded rather good live.

2 Worst bit is the line about writing songs on the computer, jars me a bit everytime.

3 Love it cause I found myself singing along with it live, always a good sign for me.

4 Percentage: 85%

5 Summer time? Already took two weeks of my vacation time, so it's trips to Seattle for baseball games with the Mariners, Mets, and Orioles.

1 Best bit: I guess the best parts are the gee-tar on it, Phil taking his place with New Order. 2 Worst bit: I don't like the lyrics that much.. plus, I wonder why they picked that one to play live instead of other like Turn. 3 Love/hate: Well, I'd say I'm in between love and hate.. I just don't mind it. 4 Percentage: 60%, it passes, but barely. 5 What you got planned for the summer? Envying people seeing New Order live maybe? ;)

1 - guitar, lyrics/vocal. 2 - can't think of any - maybe i'd like the guitar extended at the end for a few more bars 3 - love it - it has a great hook in the 'youve gotta hold' start of the chorus. Its a very sing-along-able neworder song - great driving track - reminds me of the better fleetwood mac songs 4 - 90% 5 - at this stage im hoping for an 'indian' summer - i'm getting used to all this sunshine:thumb:

1 Best bits

The beginning when it sounds for all the world like a REM song about to start. (Think "Losing My Religion"). The guitar licks sprinkled throughout - they sound quite summery and remind be a bit of "Guilty Partner" in places.

2 Worst bits

The title. Why couldn't they have called it something more oblique like "Juggernaut" or something? Or "Road To Ruin" if they really must. That title they used is just so Oasis it's corny. The lyrics of course. New Order lyrics always let the song down something rotten. If it weren't for the lyrics most of the time every New Order song would probably get 10 out of 10. For instance I cannot get over the fact that the opening line is almost identical to the first track "Hey Joe". If the latter started with "Hey Joe WHERE You GOING?" it would have at least made a small difference, but no, the last three words are identical in each case. :nonono:

3 Love/hate

I don't love it, I don't hate it, but it's catchy enough for me to play it repeatedly.

1 Best bit - Lyrics, actually, for me.

2 Worst bit - the beginning confuses me with Gin Blossoms 'Hey Jealousy' a lot. Or REM like someone said above me.

3 Love/hate - love the tight sound, don't hate anythign about it, just the beginning confuses like I said.
