This song to me is one of the moodiest, trippiest keyboard dominant songs New Order has created. I adore its genius. Not a bad start to the hypnotizing 2nd part of Substance. I know, originally Joy Division, just New Order's intense interpretation after Ian's demise. It kicks ass. What do you think? Does it rock or not?

I remember seeing the band play this live back in about '84,a truly huanting and beautiful song.Up there with Ceremony.

i agree with u.IALP is the very first NO record i've heard. I remember very well the moment, in winter 81 ? or 82? I was in a small records shop in ARles (a town close to Marseille). I said " avez -vous le nouveau disque de N.O, called Ceremony ?" and the shop seller put the b side instead of Ceremony. I was 20 years old, a JD fan since two years and Brrrr! what a great sensation! Yes of course the song rocks! with something very deep inside the music lines. The lyrics were awesome and the bass line WAowwww!!! I didn't know at the moment it was, originaly a JD song, but it's obvious there's Ian signature... I really like too the tape version with Ian singing. Really one of my favourites one. 4 ever and ever. A masterpiece.
I find it a pitty that the version included in "HEart and soul" is not complete: Is there any chance to get it complete?

It speaks of a harse truth, and I simply love the song. It's the best song along with Ceremony New Order recorded within the first 2 years of their career, although Procession is the bollocks as well.
Ceremony b/w In A lonely Place. As near to perfection as you can get.
New Order would in my opinion never reach these hieghts again. But they had a bloody good go,which is probably why we've all enjoyed the journey for so long.
I saw them end with this song at the Leicester palais in about '83/84, which was one my highlights of wathing them over the years.
