Well...while I was trying to figure out which song should be my first to offer up, I popped in low life...and suddenly, it hit me...we're going to go with the first song I ever heard by the order on the radio....

so this weeks offering is....

Love Vigilantes...

you know the drill....

best bit worst bit why you love it/hate it percentage and sticking to the personal note here...what's the fist song you heard by the order on the radio???

1 Great track - Has a very "Rebel" feel to it, favourite part would be the words and intro - amazing stuff;)

2

3 Just love it.....it was great hearing it again in Liverpool on the first leg of the tour:nod:

4 95%

5 probably True Faith

Love Vigilantes!

Aaaahhh, how do I love thee?

1- The Harmonica bit!! Sweet! 2- It's the shortest song on the album :( 3- Cos it's New Order doing their throwaway C&W thing innit? And for that we can only salute them! 4- 85% 5- Has to be "Temptation" then.... Tommy Vance initially played it at 45rpm on his Top 40 chart rundown by mistake....I nearly pissed my pants, man!!

:cool2: :cool2:

I think the way you guys do this weekly song review are a great way to discuss the songs!

  1. This song is another example of how New Order is not just a "dance" band, like many people unfamiliar with NO thinks.

  2. Yes, it is short!

  3. 90%

  4. True Faith

oh yeah, skipped one,

It one of the 5 songs that got me hooked on New Order years ago.

1.A great song that REALLY gets you thinking..a bit like BRUCE WILLIS did in that "GHOST" film..... 2.Should be longer and more songs in this style. and in no particular order 95%....TEMPTATION on radio but i was always a massive fan of JOY DIVISION!
BEST SONG ON AN ARGENTINIAN RECORD THAT I OWN...."VIDA POBRE". RM the collector.

  1. Really love the whole thing, but I am especially keen on the intro, Hooky's bass, the lyrics, and Barney's singing.

  2. Worst bit is that I also agree that it's a bit short.

  3. Loved it from the first time I heard it, and it sounded awesome live, and seeing as how NO opened up that show with KWI, and followed it up with this, the song really got the crowd into action.

  4. Rating 90%

  5. First heard NO on the local college radio station in the spring of 83, when Age of Consent began to get heavy radio play, followed closely behind by Blue Monday, Temptation, KWI, and The Village.

1 Sense of yearning imparted within, The curiosity value of the narrative. 4. Not the biggest fan of this direction away from the more elecrtonic side. 3. First track on the first New Order album I bought on the day of release. 4.93% 5. Blue Monday, not sure if I can remember the Benidorm effect but I not what you mean Huber. I'm not sure if my memories are memories or if they are memories of momeries, either mine or other peoples I've heard re-told and I dreamt of a unicorn last night.

So sorry, people, Mr. Encyclopedia here. For the record, let it be stated that there's no friggin' harmonica on "Love vigilantes" (this ain't no "Vivid") and there's no musical instrument called "melodion" (unless you're thinking of other types of "instruments"). FOR ONCE AND FOR ALL THE DAMN THINGIE'S CALLED A "MELODICA"! (My apologies for "shouting", Mister Webmaster Sir!)

well...I guess I'll do my own review now...

Best bit-an enormous beginning to a fabulous album... Worst bit-lyrics are a bit saddening Why I love it-first tune I heard by the order on the radio! %- I'll give it around a 87.37465 First song-Fun Loving Vigilantes!

a new one on Friday...Get Ready!

  1. Best bit is the harmonicas. It goes really well with the tune despite any bellyaching about it being C&W style.

  2. I agree with others, it's too short! An extended 12" version would've been nice!

  3. I love this song because the lyrics are eerie and it's such a catchy song I can't help but to hum it after listening to it. There is nothing to hate about this song.

  4. 90%

  5. Hmm, I would say True Faith or Bizarre Love Triangle. I can't really remember which one was the first...probably True Faith in the late 80s.

and see...I review it, they play it...why did it take me so long to get to this point...must be all the beers!!!

My first participation in WSR...!

best bit.. The intro of the song, and the melody.

worst bit.. I think the lyrics are a bit poor, but that's New Order.

why you love it/hate it.. Why? I have no idea why I like it, probably because I really enjoy the melody.

percentage... 75%

and sticking to the personal note here...what's the fist song you heard by the order on the radio???.. it must have been Blue Monday... then Bizarre Love Triangle, then True Faith, then Regret.. IMHO, the only 4 New Order songs that played on the radio over here.

Pulled out Low-life to listen to tonight, and I am reminded of the fact that this is the first NO song I heard on the radio in my new car, back in 1985 though  Hearing it made me drive just a wee bit faster than the speed limit ;)
