Well hurrah and huzzah as Hugh Laurie might well say! (I'm doing the JD version)

  1. Best bit - The third chorus, where the guitar comes crashing in...making an already amazing chorus...orgasmic
  2. Worst bit- seems neither Ian nor Barney can actually sing this! Also at reading festival this year i put this on a mix tape, and some girl said it sounded like 'cheesy american road music' :nono:
  3. Why you love/hate it - It's just so atmospheric! Amazing chorus, rattling drums, bouncing bass
  4. Rating in % - 98%
  5. Complete this: "If i had a hammer, I'd..." use it on me local McDonalds. Sorry Ronnie!

Almost un-reviewable, this one. Too bloody good.I'll try though..

  1. Best bit - that firstclatter of the toms on the JD version. Chills everytime.
  2. No worst bit. No, not even the whoops when Barney sings it - that's just Barn.
  3. Love it for the bass bits, particularly the lead-in to the chorus. Magic.
  4. If I had a Hammer, I'd ask him if he still wore those amazing pants, and if in fact you 'can't touch this' still.

  1. Best bit

Seeing a camera shot up a lasses top filmed from ground level when it was played on top of the pops. She was wearing a tight crop top and had a particularly fine set of jiggly bobblies 2. Worst bit

The whole thing 3. Why you love/hate it

Cos it's shite 4. Rating in %

0 5. Complete this: "If i had a hammer, I'd have three in total. I once thought I'd lost mine so bought another, only for the original one to turn up again "

The first notes on the bass. I love the lyrics, too.

  1. Worst bit

The video they made for it afterall. It was grotesque.

  1. Why you love/hate it

It is so full of repressed anger and sadness. It is the only JD song I'd rather NO did not play.

Best bits are the steady drums and bubbling bass, and Ian's singing and lyrics are totally suited to the music.

Worst bit is that I also agree that Barney's whoops live don't add anything to it for me.

Love it cause it's as moving a piece of music as there is.

If I had a hammmer..........I'd be well on my way to completing my tool box with the proper tools.

  1. Basically....perfect. One of my top 3 JD songs.
  2. the chord progression doesn't resolve at the end on the single version the way it usually does when they play it live. that last chord would make it melt in my ears.
  3. Curtis, the rest, Hannett, how it gets stuck in my roommate's head and he yells at me for playing it all the time

  2. Making you realise what a truly awesome band Joy Division were becoming, this song brings home to you that so sad realisation that they never reached their true potential, but who knows?

I love a party with an ATMOSPHERE, much more cheery than that depressing Joy Division track :)

1.EVERYTHING ! 2.None 3.An overwhelming Masterpiece that makes you feel so uplifted. 4.110 % 5.If i had a hammer i'd hammer my silly head ! And by the way, apart from the Marvelous original, the one 'self-cover' by New Order on 'In Session', back in '98 for dear late JOHN PEEL, does quite make it for me as well. Best regards to all the Noolers and my best season greetings.

Best bit - "people like you...." Worst bit - none. Love/hate - i never tire of hearing it. % - 99. If I had a hammer, it would have been the first West Ham fan I'd have been that close to.

Best bit - every last bit of it Worst bit - the runoff groove Why? - It just does what very few pieces of music do. It weeps, cries, wails, lifts you, drops you, and leaves you emotionally shattered and drained at the end. It exposes all the frailty, desperation and weaknesses we all feel at some time or other. Either way, at the end of it you feel different from before, every time. Rated - 100% Hammer? I'd put it in the toolbox.
