How may fookin' separate World CUp competitions do we need?

The NOOL one is a continuation of the Premier League one we had throughout the season.

The Telegraph one is one that pays good coin to the winner as an additional bonus.

are you making fun of the 'shelvies'? no, our goalkeeper is not a seal, he's just a bit portly; and as for the penguin...henry just enjoys wearing a tux. so we let him. it's our first appearance at the world cup and we're the underdogs, so give us some support here, ta!

I noticed that several people have yet to select a proper initial lineup. I guess most people are waiting until tomorrow night or Friday morning. Just the same, I will go over some of the basics for the newbies.

1. If you click on the calendar dates, you will see the lineup and bench for each day. If a player is playing that day, his opposing team will be listed to his right (ex. @CRC,GER,POL,@ECU). Using the calendar, you can even select your lineup and captain ahead of time for any specific date.

2. If a player down on your bench has an opposing team listed beside him, you should place him up into your lineup by toggling him from "bench" to "active" and clicking "submit changes". To make room for him, you will probably have to send down to your bench a lineup player who is not playing that day by toggling him from "active" to "bench" and clicking "submit changes". You can make all your switches simultaneously since both "submit changes" buttons affect your entire roster, lineup and bench.

3. Everyday you will want to make captain a player who is actually playing that day by illuminating the dot to his left and hitting "submit changes". This player will receive double points. The catch is that you might also lose double points if his tally is negative.

The fantasy league has suddenly gotten very tight. I'm just very thankful that Klose has finally played his last game of the group stage. Not having him was killing me!

I like Michael Owen. I thought he was finally going to have a great game, but what a letdown. He's lucky he's not a horse.

I've got the Dutch keeper (Van Der Sar) and the Argentine striker (Crespo, also Luis Gonzalez) so I am torn. I guess I can't lose. Or, more likely, I can't win.

I can't log onto my fantasy team. Anyone else having the same problem?

I'm not sure I want to log in today after all. It seems like all my guys are sitting on the bench because they have a yellow card, or are simply being rested. Arghh!!

Yeah, I assumed that too. Second time I burned myself by not reading the rules properly before picking my roster, or I'd have done things differently. Oh well, no use crying about it now.

I took a chance on making Ronaldo my captain today and it looks like it paid off.

I think we read it properly and the organizers just changed their minds. This is exactly what it says and it's difficult to interpret it in any other way:

"After the group stage all players will select a new squad from a revised player list."

The Pathetic Puffins lived up to their name! Have to admit didn't always get the scoring - would watch one of my players play really well, then find out the next morning they had got 1/2 a point? Congrats to all those considerably better than myself and thanks to all those who have made me look like I almost know something about the game!

Well done to The Muddy Boots. 3rd place for me, never really recovered from the day i couldn't access the net in order to edit my team.

Congrats to Muddy Boots. Good to know someone in our group rocked. Must have finished in the top .2% overall. I was quite happy with my 5th place finish. Not bad for an ignorant American. Even finished in the 96th percentile in the North and Central American and Carribean zone, which is actually quite sad.

That's the problem with fantasy anything. Football, baseball, etc. You just have to know the rules and pick your team based on the fantasy point rules, not who actually played well. Zizu has great ball control but that doesn't mean shit in fantasy land. Forwards that the best players to have. I'd have a 0-0-10 alignment, if the rules would let me, even though that would be lunacy in real football.
