Just mentioned on the radio tonight that Italy always reach the final every 12 years.. 1970 (lost) 1982 (won) 1994 (lost) and now 2006 (guess it will be a win for em ,then?)
Italy 2 France 1 ,i reckon
I reckon I am backig the French for this, I really liked the way they handled the RADA first 11 the other night.
ALTHOUGH, I missed the Germany Italy game, which I am told was the best of the competition despite being goal-less until the death.
This one is going into a shootout ![]()
And BTW, what a lame way to end such important games ;) Although it's the same in hockey for international games.. but the NHL finals are sudden death overtime, now that's great ;)
(They just put the shootout in regular season last season)

I agree it's a lame way to end such an important game, and I agree it'll go to a shootout. After a 0-0 draw. I sure as hell hop I'm wrong.
What the fuck happened there?
Zizu, about to be elevated to a football God, and a spectacular headbutt.
Err... well done Italy, I suppose.

I thought it was a pretty good game, overall, but it really sucks to decide it on penalties!

Football God my ass. Pele and Maradona were football Gods.
2 penalty goals (was that a penalty today?), being sent off at 110 minutes and don't even show his butt face in the celebration are definitive proofs that he is not the genius everyone thought. Could put him together with the importance of a Romario, nothing more. ![]()

disagree with you here, Zidane is by far the best player in the world and has been so for the past ten years; if that doesn't make you a football god i don't know what does

Congrats to Italy
congrats to italy for winning the world cup even though they played worse than angola for 90 mins of the game :P

IMHO, if you asked me to pick up between Romario in his top days (92-94) and Zidane in his top days (98-00), I would pick up Romario.
adieu Zizou and thanks for the memories
he show to us that gods are gods and players are humans. his move is not an example for the young fans for sure but what about materazzi? zz walks away and the italian continues to talk.is he an example?portugal's ronaldo talks to the ref and a hole nation already hates him. anyway i'm happy cause eric will not feel alone anymore and i'm still expecting for zz to say what happened.

finally it came the day when i agree with you on a football matter, man! Romario was/is a great player and a net killer. Zizou just showed his value on the game against Brazil, then he did very few. ![]()
and about the other comment, we might discuss if Zidane was or wasn´t the best player of the last 10 years (i´d say Ronaldo hands down). but in any case that shows how poor is football these days. ![]()
to Italy... 5 great penalties - even if they did play for them, they must have been confident...
Good enough game - could've been worse given tendency of teams to freeze/become ultra-defensive in final... Zidane - whatever the provocation, etc. deserved to go and to be severely punished - bad example and leaves a bad taste in the mouth of what was otherwise a pretty good game...
SHEDi xxx
The end did leave a bad taste in my mouth. PK's suck, and on top of that, it's won, not by a keeper making a save, but by a shooter hiting the bar. Won on a bad play, not a good play. Oh well, somebody had to win. ![]()

I think if Zidane hadnt done the unthinkable, and pulled off one last miraculous game, and carried France again to a second World Cup, he would have gone down as a football God, no doubt. To compare him to Pele or Maradona, is bizarre, as they are clearly different types of players.
Hell.. I ain't keen on the French, after all I'm English.. but being in Europe, I've seen a lot of him play over the years, and as a midfield pivot/engine, he is/was second to none.
I cant see the point of comparing him to a Brazilian striker either. Very strange, indeed. Might be a bit of sour Brazilian grapes methinks.
As for his disciplinary behaviour last night, I'm sure I dont have to bring up Diego's swansong either. He still became a football God, despite cheating and drug-taking.![]()
