about two or three top notch games. Aussie/Croats spring to mind.
major world stars were shite, the footy wasn't a high enough standard. too many countries who just weren't up to it . and way too much defensive tactics.
and England didn't turn up. they were crap from the start. blame that Swedish prick.

I agree there was too much defense. Though I think it's been that way for a while. Also true that some of the big stars like Ronaldo didn't do shit. I liked Germany's play overall, I wish they had made the final. I think a big problem is all the flopping and whining to official that goes on. It ruins the game, and I wish FIFA would punish the players that consistently do it. Speaking of that, and speaking on England, ESPN's analysis Tommy Smythe, an Irishman, mind you, said that one of England's big problems is that they were too honest. They didn't flop in agony when being lightly brushed by the opponent like everybody else did, they didn't try to draw fouls and cards. That is a very sad state of things when playing honestly and like a man (no sexism intended) is considered a disadvantage.
Well.............at least we know that if Italy can win it by being average- England have a hope in hell in the future!
Thought it mostly poor to be honest, and don't remember that many good games.
Can't wait for the new season to start. 22nd July for me

not only England was honest. the teams from africa were also and some of them played really well and maybe much better than some europeans but the refs (or maybe fifa...?) done everything to not let them pass to next rounds.

The problem of the teams from Africa seemed to be, that they played well in the middle field, but very ineffective in the gool area. England had no luck or nerves in the penalty kicking. All of the first 4 had a penalty kicking during the world cup.

The original Motto in German was: "the world to guest at friends". I don't know, why the translation of this shall be "a time to make friends". But what I have seen was, that the fans of different countries drunked together so much, that the german breweries got into trouble. :D

It was not about the supporters... it seemed that they had behaved much more nicely than the players...

Had they used "Be our guest", Disney would have sued.
My little four-year-old lad played in his first game on Saturday and would have been a better bet than bleedin' Theo Walcott. One of his team mates beat three of the opposition and got down on his knees to head the ball over the line. It was the best bit of footballing skill in the last month.
I thought Germany would win it and they didn't, and my final salvation came with having France in the office sweepstake. A safe bet I thought in the final until Zindane lost his head and lost me £32!

But ultimately England were utter shite, and the rest I don't care about. At least the Yanks got some excitement out of the Italy match.
