Michel Platini beat Lennart Johannsen in the UEFA Presidency election yesterday.
He proposes to do the following:
i) expand Euro Champs to 24 teams instead of 16.
ii) Limit number of foreign players per team to 5.
iii) Impose a salaries cap linked to club income.
OK.. whats dy'all reckon?. I reckon it sounds alright. Only drawback is that he's French.

One thing i forgot to add was that he wants to limit UK teams in Champions League to 3, and the same for Spain etc. This is so an extra French team can get in, perhaps.

The Champions League exists because of its expanded form. The richest clubs would have separated and formed their own super league some years ago, if the CL hadnt have been expanded.
Ok the bloke used to be my hero when I was young.What a footballer! However this guy could be dangerous to the game once in charge.It wasn't long ago that he wanted to ban heading and certain tackling and I don't me the obvious two footed or from behind..

UK teams? So does that mean Rangers/Celtic and Hearts, or just the Auld firm, and a wee diddy team from the English premiership?
The UK is composed of FOUR countries it is NOT a synonym for any one of them, least of all England!

Too right. He said he wanted to ban tackling so defenders would only be able to intercept the ball, thus the game would be faster and more skillful.

Wires have been crossed here. When I 1st read your post I leapt to the conclusion that you were referring to Platini's plan to limit English teams to two (as I'd just seen it on the news). Frankly I can't see what else you did/could have meant. Until fairly recently Scotland have only had the 1 representative, and it's only thanks to Rangers long run in the group stages of the CL, and their other decent results/form in Europe, that Scotland now have two teams in the CL.
How and/or why you jumped to the mistaken conclusion that I am a (Scottish) nationalist, because I was correcting a mistake prevalent in the media, and many walks of life, which equate England with Britain/UK etc. is beyond me. I detest nationalism: but this factual error/laziness/ignorance gets on my threepenny bits!
