Good tactics from Benitez to push Jankulovski and Oddo back, but what was Gerrard's role? More often than not he got in the way and prevented switches of play, not his best game by any means. Mascherano was Liverpool's best player for me, you hardly noticed him but he was always there in that key role sat just in front, snuffing out the favoured Milan attacking areas. Not a classic game by any means though.

And fetching KEWELL on?

Too much was made of 2005, if it hadn't been the 5th time would it have been seen as such a result? Its the only major thing they've won in nearly 20 years. Rafa is a great coach, but i think they should maybe try and get things right at home before trying to rule europe.

Not a truer word written, pity no Liverpool fan will agree 'we're a european team' is the standard response i get

how can too much have been made of 2005? that's ridiculous. beating Juventus, chelsea, Leverkusen etc. we deserved it. it could have been the fourth time. it could have been the second. but we lifted the European Cup for the fifth time, which is 3 more times than United have ever done.

basically United want that Cup, and we want the League, and that's it. But we'll still take the European Cup, any day of the week.

but not this week. :(

i thought we were better than Milan, but its the same old problem for us. the lack of an out and out goalscorer.

Should have put Bellamy on. His pace against the elders of Milan could have won it for yers. Seedorf was shite an all. He was well fucked after an hour. Gattuso was anonymous after his booking. They shit themselves when Liverpool got one back though. If they'd equalised they would have won in extra time. Milan had nothing left.
