Is it in fact Man Utd's fans who are the worst in Europe?
They're known to have England's largest active hooligan elemnent. They've been involved in a catalogue of violent disorder spanning the contintent for over 30years. In fact many experts say the whole hooligan phenomemon stems from their exploits in the early 70's when widespread travelling to away ganes became the norm.
They've been repsonsible for the deaths of other supporters on more occassions than any other British club. Fans of theirs chased a Crystal Palace fan to his death under the wheels of a coach. They were also responsible for the death of a Tottenham supporter who fell to his death from ecsalator whilst fleeing their mob. Finally two pensioners from Cleveland were stampeded to death by a police horse, as it attempted to control Man Utd fans.
They've hardly learned any lessons in all this time, after violent clashes and trouble flared on their European travels this season, as they attempted to storm the gates at Lille, amid mass bunking and admittance using forged tickets. Then there's the notorious incidents during both legs of their clash against Roma.
