My mate at work went to a gig at night and day ( next to dry bar ) last night.drunken scots all over the street outside smashing bottles, the door was shut,he had to knock on the door and show his ticket at a peep hole to get in and the doorman said congratulations for making it through. total attendance at gig was 11

Ha ha fancy taking on the Manchester riot Police. They are the big boys; bet they never even broke sweat against Glasgow's finest.

Chucking bottles at the telly and stabbing people in the back? Well 'ard.

Of course football's a religeon North of the border. What can you expect?

Idiots

Bet it was a good laugh though.

You're not even the biggest club in Glasgow! Just think, would have been 150,001 if you had bothered to make the effort. Watching various news reports this morning, you managed to disgrace yourselves yet again, utter scum. Scotland's shame indeed. As for the game, justice was done in the end. It was an absolute travesty that you had managed to bore your way to the final with such a dull, negative, boring, anti-football philosophy.

I did make the effort and I am in Manchester. Bigger club in Britain than Celtic, you might have more fans in USA and Japan. Negative Boring football?? Don't watch Rangers then - I know you don't have much choice as your team are crap and have not reached any finals.

Up the gers!!!

Thats 150,000 travelling fans. Biggest following ever of a football team.(it was said on 5 live)

2 million on the streets when united won the treble - thats impressive considering your majority come from Devon.

Glad Rangers lost final. Would have been a bad advert for football (like greece boring victory eh euro 2004).

Shame some idiots spoilt it for the majority of decent Rangers fans. Some started drinking at 6am? Whats the point!

How is winning football a bad advert? Accenuate the positives, hide the negatives.

If Stockport County had played defensive, well drilled football, instead of trying to faff around trying to be fancy then there's a good chance we'd have got automatic promotion.

Give me 5 at the back and long ball over fancy football (or "Sexy" football if you're from Newcastle) if it means winning.

And its not "negative" its "pragmatic"

Aye, because you'd rather United went out and LOST but played nice football next week, wouldnt you?

You'd seriously prefere to watch 5 at the back and long ball tactics. Well if thats your bagm then so be it. But I hate all that. If god wanted football to be played in the air he would have put grass in the sky. Chelsea, Watford long ball merchants bores the pants off me.

Id rather my team lose trying to play football than lose playing boring, unskilled, negative long ball.

And I believe Greece winning Euro 2004 was a bad advert. You never heard of them again. They didnt even qualify for last 2 tournaments. Useless!

i would rather united played the way they do rather than the boring "pragmatic" football used to great effect by the special one, even if it means losing more games than chelski, arsenal and liverpool during the season and still being champions:nod:

Erm... they topped their group for this summers European Championship.

In 2004, Greece beat the holders (France), the favourites (Czech Republic) and the hosts (Portugal). Not such a bad advert.

The best kind of football is winning football. Whether that be like Man United, Arsenal or Rangers. Anyone who says that they would rather their team lose than play so called "negative" football is either ignorant or a liar.

It surely depends on the outcome.

Watching your team draw or even win 1-0 after ninety boring minutes of dismal short play in your own half is not my idea of fun.

Playing in an exciting manner and dropping the odd game as as result of the risks you take is far preferable. I'd have easily swapped a couple of losses for the never-ending run of draws that City put in front of us last season.

Just hoofing the ball the length of the park on the off chance of scoring the odd goal certainly gets the heart going, but isn't inventive and doesn't compare to the type of football that United have played this season.

Last night's game was just shit. Better than that fucking awful game against Fiorentina though. At least it was all over after 90 minutes rather than dragging on for 180 minutes, extra time and penalties.

At least we can be thankful for that.

My views on this subject:

  1. the better team won on the night
  2. Rangers did well even to reach the final
  3. 40 arrests out of 150,000 is almost too small to be represented statistically
  4. Cant think of any other club that could bring so many travelling fans to a match
  5. Rangers fans justified in being annoyed at the big telly blowing a fuse minutes before the k.o.
  6. the treble is still possible

You play to your strengths. I've seen enough games at Edgeley Park and its fucking annoying to see County try and pass it around the midfield like some fancy fuckers when they control the damn thing, and then usually getting caught in possession and letting the other team score. Just hoof it up and be done with it.

Rangers played a disciplined, organised, well drilled form of football in Europe, which made them triumph over teams from infinitley superior leagues. They should be commended for that. Football players arent paid to primarily entertain, they're paid to win.

I refuse to accept any argument who says that they would rather play so called entertaining football and lose rather than play long ball and win 1-0. What do you get for losing a game 4-3? or 6-4? or 7-4? Absolsutely nothing, or in the case of Reading, relegation.

Defenders win games, attackers decide by how much.

Liam, you're wrong. People just don't show up in the same numbers for poor quality football.

Some games are exempt from this, people are always going to be interested in a cup final for other reasons than the skills on display. But a run-of-the-mill league game will pull a larger audience, both at the ground and on the telly, if there's a chance of a decent game.

I couldnt agree with you any less. When Megson was Forest manager he brought his own brand of long ball football. It was rubbish and we got relegated. I would rather be entertained and lose a few more games then win everyone 1-0 and play dire defensive football. really there is no arguement there.

Id love to watch a 3-4 defeat every once in a while compared to 1-0. Theres more to life than winning. Entertainment is what its all about. Defenders can win games, but its usually strikers (seeing as the object of the game is to score more goals than the opponents!)

Its a real shame Greece beat France, let alone Czech and Portuagal. A real shame. So they qualified for Euro2008? Sorry, I didnt notice.

Hmmm. Point 4: of course there weren't many arrests- when there's that many weegie scumbags in one place they become virtually un-policeable and have the freedom to do what they want. Of course, being Rangers they want to smash everything up.

It was the same when I lived in Aberdeen - the cunts just take over for a day....

I'm not wrong. People turn up to watch they're team WIN. Win anyway you can. How many times do you hear someone ring into to 606 saying "awww, I dont mind that we lost because at least we played nice football" It never happens.

If fans demand to be entertained then they win fuck all. Just look at Newcastle. First is first and second is nowhere.

Why would you want to see your team lose?

Oh, of course, you're a fan of the clubs that boo's the players off after they win!

  4. Cant think of any other club that could bring so many travelling fans to a match Really? We took 80,000 to a country outwith the UK for a final, oh, and not one single arrest
  5. Rangers fans justified in being annoyed at the big telly blowing a fuse minutes before the k.o. Being annoyed yes, starting a riot and throwing cans and bottles at the guy fixing the TV? NO
  6. the treble is still possible But very unlikely

I'm not necessarily agreeing with Liam's broader point here, but it might be worth noting that my football club have been casually dismissed all season as brutal, one-dimensional hoof-merchants.

And we're playing in the Premiership next season.
