I remember games that are lost 4-3 far more than games won 1-0. Hmmm. Point 4: of course there weren't many arrests- when there's that many weegie scumbags in one place they become virtually un-policeable and have the freedom to do what they want. Of course, being Rangers they want to smash everything up.

Not all Rangers fans are scumbags. I was in Manc yesterday and the majority were well behaved. I think every club has a small minority of twats. It will be interesting to see if next weeks Champion League final is trouble free.

As for Rangers playing dull football - unlike the Premier league Scottish clubs don't receive the funds from advertising and Sky TV to spend on players. I wish Rangers could spend £50million + on players like Man Utd did last summer.

Let's face it, Rangers fans' enthusiasm for that game had nothing to do with the quality of the football on show and everything to do with the fact that their team was in the final. These things develop a momentum of their own; the 'event' was a mass trip to Manchester and football was just the reason for that event.

Not that I have anything against that. I love a trip away with my mates as much as anyone.

But any neutrals watching that game last night would have been fairly dissapointed at the shit football on display.

So Liam might be right to say that some, but my no means all, people would prefer to see THEIR team play badly and win than lose and exciting game, the same can't be said of people watching teams other than their own.

Yeah but we won. Rangers played crap and lost. Thats it. It was such a predictable result. And I think you find Rangers do get money from advertising. Otherwise they wouldnt have "Carling" on their shirts or be on TV.

Cloughie use to let the players have a beer on the day of finals to reduce their nerves. I very much doubt his pep-talk was "eye up lads. i want 10 man behind da ball and hoof the f*ck oot of it and chase like one of zem eadliss chikuns".

There has never been a discussion of co hosting with it with the jocks.

FIFA have also said they probably wont be entertaining joint bids in the future.

The fact is, at every game you'll get some trouble. Whether its a couple of pissed up lads fighting outside the ground or a full blown riot or somethng in between.

The fact is, chances are the trouble would have been avoided if that screen had been working. Its like a domino effect, once a few start, more and more will get involved.

I wasnt there so dont know about the transport? But why dindt everyone just walk to the stadium? My gran lives near the stadium and I always walked from my flat to her house. Its not hard to find, go up Oldham Street, turn right and its a mile tops.

And you cant stop all day drinking. Even if the law didnt provide for it, if someone wants to get pissed, then they will.

I think this criticism of Rangers fans is mostly unjustified. Like The Boy says, Manchester City Council just didnt prepare properly and were undone ultimately by a techinical fault which no one could have predicted. Yes, its a mindless minority, but UEFA wont punish them and it will all be forgotten in a few weeks. I imagine it will have zero impact on any World Cup bid, especially when the 2018 hosts wont be announced until 2012 at the earliest.

I will say this, Manchester coped admirably when 55000 Italians came in 2003. And I'll tell you this, that was a fucking much much much worse game than anything Rangers presented this season.

I was in Manc on Weds and like 99.9 percent of the fans had a great trouble free time. I think any club taking that amount of fans to a different city and having all day drinking was bound to result in some violence. (The same thing happens at music festivals - Leeds festival 3 years ago)

The main thing is Manchester wasn't expecting such a great support coming into town ,and couldn't cope with the volume of fans (perhaps Manchester council got them mixed up with Celtic - 3,561 attendance 23/3/08, for which a portable telly would have been adequate for the Celtic fans)

I sympaphise with genuine Rangers fans but its always the mindless few that ruin it for the rest. That policeman could have been seriously injured or even killed. The thug that got bitten by the policedog was a convicted murdered. A "fan" who was banned from grounds for 3 years moans about cuffs cutting into his wrists and not being able to watch match from cell.

You cant blame the techincal fault or Manchester Council on this one. Fans should have watched game at home. No problems then. And no doubt they would have kicked off if screen did work as they felt the injustice of losing the final to a superior passing team. For gods sake, they were even fighting between themselves.

Then there was a Russian fan stabbed inside the ground. The thugs that turned the city centre into a warzone acting like a bunch of brainless idiots hellbent on distruction. Take a chill pill. You did well to reach the final. Its only a game. Get a grip.

Just hope Moscow isnt carnage.
