OK, one here probably just for me, Bansh and Howie..........who do we think will step into the Ewood hot seat? For what it's worth Rovers are probably THE best run club in the land........if you don't believe me listen to what Dean Saunders says on the bbc website....... and I fully expect John Williams to make the correct appointment for the club as he did do with Souey and Hughes.

So here are names being banded about........feel free to add more............

Ruud Gullit - sexy footie Shearer / Newell - best buds and Ewood leg ends Michael Laudrup - done well at at similar club to Rovers in Spain Slavan Billic - my choice but if, as expected , Croatia do well this month his stock is sure to rise out of Rovers reach Paul Ince - doing well, good contacts, but maybe risky Steve McClaren - Ronald Maclaren, Wally wit' brolley - I can hear the BB end now, "Brolley Army....boom,boom,......" Please NO BFS - Again god NO. .........I'd prefer entertainment in the fizzy pop as oppose to this chancer.......and I used to play footie with him!!!!!!!!! Hoddle, Grant, Monkeys Head, Dreary oh Deary, etc, etc, etc

I'd love for Rovers to take a slight gamble this time but I fear it could well be S mac or aLARDyce.............

Onwards and upwards dear boys...........

alf - i see you've got Grant on that list. but ive already got a job and last month i got a 12 POUND pay rise. so i am out

i'll consider who i reckon should get the rovers job later when ive finished my 12 POUND bottle of barolo red wine ( pay rise money ) and had a good nights sleep

Hasnt Bilic signed a new contract with Croatia?

I think Blackburn should go for Big Sam myself. They cant compete with the money Gullit is on in the MLS.

And why the fuck would anyone want Shearer? Let him go to Newcastle when Keegan walks out and get them relegated.

we dont need someone to come in and shake the club and the team around, its not like weve been relagated or in bad shape. so just a safe and experienced pair of hands to take hold of the steering wheel. so i'd go for big fat sam.

a few interesting things in the voting on rovers forum advocaat 22% shearer 22% bilic 19% ince 10% big sam 8%

but mclaren 0%

McClown has said he would be interested in the job. So if you want to spend a load of money and finish 15th he's the ideal candidate.

I cant wait for McClarens next job. His first home game, all the home fans, however many thousand singing "We Want McClaren out!"

Rovers ain't interested in McClown........Although it would be funny for about 2.5 seconds hearing the blackburn end chanting "Steve McClarens brolley army........":evil4:

Now the latest is .........aLARDarse. No way. They are not interested even though hes bangin the door down. Henk Ten Cate wants the job and is refusing to give Panathaniokos an answer until he's heard from Rovers. Shearer is interested and he has a backroom staff available........would get the town chuffin buzzin and could do wonders in keeping and attracting players....or equally it could go tits up.........McClowns waving his brolley at anyone interested.....Ince thinks the job is his....Michael Laudrup is also interested and he's done wonders at Getafe, a club similar in size to Rovers...

........So as far as i'm aware those are the names on the list and who rovers would like to interview...whether Shearer will accept being 'interviewed' who knows........but its warming up now......List completed tommorrow....interviews over the next 10 days and appointment back end of next week...job done..........

.......Must admit being jazzed off when Hughes went but it was probably the right time.......and when he showed interest in the Barcodes job the writing was on the wall......maybe thats why he wasn't given funds in January cos the board knew he would put himself forward for any serious 'bigger' club job..........but like I keep saying he won't find a better run club in the Prem...........:D

Just read this in the notw by Andy Dunn...sums up my thoughts exactly..........

"But Hughes will be humiliated by Shinawatra. Make no mistake. I don’t know the guy. Wouldn’t pretend to.

But what I do know is that he was an outstanding manager of Blackburn Rovers — a club that has consistently outperformed Manchester City since the inception of the Premier League.

A club that has won it, no less. A proper football club, built on the foundations laid by a true fan.

A club where the manager may have to abide by strict financial rules but a club where the manager is king.

And now, he has jumped ship to a club with a lot of dough. But a diseased club with a lot of dough.

Across the city, Sir Alex Ferguson talked this week about how an effective football boss must have complete control.

But there is only one king of Manchester City.

When you have ruled a country of 62m people, you don’t give someone else the credit if things go right and you don’t take the blame if they go wrong.

Shinawatra wants people to bow to his benevolence.

And I never had Hughes down as someone who would bow to anyone’s benevolence."

Wonder if he's been reading this thread........ :evil4:

This is the story that'll be in the people tomoz.........told you it ain't over.......listen to the Alfster n get on it.........

"Chelsea are trying to block Henk Ten Cate's bid to bounce back into management with Blackburn Rovers in a sensational twist. The Dutchman - also wanted by Greek giants Panathinaikos - is due for talks with Rovers about their vacancy on Wednesday after he finishes a holiday in Barbados. However the Stamford Bridge outfit are trying to stop the highly-rated former Barcelona number two and Ajax chief returning to the Premier League and coming back to haunt them. Ten Cate has not finalised pay-off terms at Chelsea after leaving when Avram Grant was removed - and part of the negotiations include a demand for him to sign away the chance of working in England for a year. Tough-guy Ten Cate does not want to agree to that ban and plans to speak to Blackburn. If they offer him the job he will say 'stuff Chelsea' and take them on for his cash. Ten Cate is still a live runner along with Sam Allardyce, Paul Ince and Steve McClaren as Rovers take their time on the appointment after Alan Shearer's shock snub. The contract pay-off wrangle - worth a small fortune - will also stop Ten Cate from being able to take the Greek job. He won't give up that much money easily according to sources close to him. Ten Cate was only at Chelsea for under a year and this would cost him dearly, but he is a hard customer in more ways than one. He has told Greek side Panthinaikos that he will join them soon - but has yet to put pen to paper. The Greeks claim he is joining but friends confirm he would rather come to England after stalling for a week until he was formally invited for an interview with Rovers which came after Shearer said no. Rovers want to talk to Ten Cate to find out if he is cut out to be a number one. His CV is superb after his success at Chelsea where he was the 'brains' of the outfit. Ten Cate also won the Champions League with Frank Rijkaard at Barca and their slip since is seen by many as being down to his departure from Spain. Blackburn want to see Ten Cate face-to-face after talking to other candidates they know more about. If he impresses he may well get the job. Allardyce is also desperate for the post. He has met Rovers and told them his plans in a special 'presentation' and significantly would take just a handful of backroom staff with him. The former Bolton and Newcastle chief is famed for his large managerial teams, but he will compromise to get back into football - with the aim of proving some of his old clubs and critics wrong. Rovers may also talk to Ince, Roberto Martinez and Aidy Boothroyd as they take their time over the appointment following the shock Shearer decision. Officials at Rovers even asked the Premier League if they could name Shearer as their new manager - before the bombshell news that their old hero was turning them down. Shearer's appointment was 'close' as insiders revealed he and his camp had spent 72 hours discussing the post and several other issues about his first start in management. And Rovers took the step of getting approval from the League about the potential coup, ironing out the problem of his lack of qualifications. Shearer - like Gareth Southgate and Glenn Roeder before him - does not have his full set of coaching badges. But he is in the process of doing them and would have been allowed to work. The collapse of the talks was a blow for Rovers, but there were worries within the club about his desire to carry on his BBC career and also demands for commercial deals as part of his contract."........................
