The age-old model at City works well: a youth policy that feeds top youth into the club and bolstering the squad by buying a few more seasoned hands. The money clubs will always spoil the show by snapping up the best of the homegrown talent and leaving the squad lean. Obviously, SWP is a rare example of this working in City's favour - getting paid £12 million to have one of your players trained to that standard is a fairy tale come true.
Money will always be a factor. It costs a fortune to maintain a big enough squad to survive a season in the Premier League so selling and loaning players is always going to be a reality.
Even Chelsea seem to be tightening their belts and selling a few players off. For all his wealth, surely Abromavic is going to want a return on his money sooner or later?
The injection of yet more money, and the potential for City to open up another massive market on top of Thailand (which for all its size isn't a wealthy region like UAE) makes this a very interesting development.
As for the good Dr, I'm sure he's made a fucking fortune on this deal. He bought at the right time, following one of the most dismal seasons in City's history, and sold after one of our best. The key to this is the Arab's statement that they will be paying off all the loans. Like Abromavic, City's owner didn't give the club any money once he'd bought the shares - he loaned the money to the club and now he's getting it all back. The shares must have gone up massively in value over the past 12 months or so, and the little man will scoop the lot (cunningly keeping a position within the club and thereby maintaining his propaganda exercise and keeping our profile high in the Thai market.

Spurs agreed to drop any official complaint, after the fee was agreed at £30.75m, which was what City are believed to have offered.
