Peter Hook: Oasis Could Mediate New Order Reunion at Rock Hall

Peter Hook is in talks to perform at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Los Angeles on 14 November, which will honour Joy Division and New Order as a single act. The 2026 ceremony also includes Oasis, Billy Idol, and Sade among its record-breaking six British inductees.

However, Hook has made clear he will not reunite with his former bandmates. He departed the band in 2007 and subsequently became embroiled in an eight-year legal dispute that, Hook has said, cost him six years' wages. He views the remaining members' continued use of the New Order name as a travesty that has diminished the band's legacy. Yet in interviews with Rolling Stone and NME, he suggested that Liam and Noel Gallagher of Oasis might serve as unlikely intermediaries to help broker reconciliation—if Bernard Sumner were willing to apologise.

The remaining members released a statement expressing their delight at the induction, reflecting on the band's resilience and the shared journey with fans and collaborators across nearly five decades.
