New Order on the Jimmy Kimmel Late Night Show

New Order will be playing on the Jimmy Kimmel late night show, which is being taped in L.A. on April 27th. Free tickets, but limited in number to the studio audience capacity (however many that is). They'd probably only play one or two songs, knowing how those shows operate. We still don't have confirmation from ABC. The Jimmy Kimmel Late Night Show is broadcasted on ABC at 00:05 weekdays. New Order's performance will be broadcasted the 28th at 00:05am. You can get tickets via the following link...

New Order Prepare to Release "Waiting For The Sirens' Call" in the USA

"Waiting For The Sirens' Call," the long-awaited album by progressive dance-rock pioneers New Order, has been set for release April 26th, 2005, on Warner Bros. Records. Already a smash in the U.K., "Sirens'" sets a new high watermark for one of our generation's most influential bands: "Originators of a sound imitated by a million, younger, better-coiffed dance-rock outfits, New Order may be the most ripped-off electronic act since, uh, Joy Division," said GQ Magazine. Time Magazine put it this way: "They have evolved their trademark mix of bass, synthesizer and pop hooks by embracing and perfecting their own legacy." In conjunction with the release of their long-awaited new album, New Order will perform a select series of U.S. dates including an appearance at the Coachella Music & Arts Festival, May 1st, 2005, in Indio, California. Additional dates include April 29th at the Henry J. Kaiser Arena in Oakland, California; May 3rd at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, Illinois; and May 5th at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. New Order has also made available remixes of the album's debut single "Krafty" exclusively on iTunes. Both "The Glimmers 12" Extended Remix" and "The Glimmers Dub Version" of the song can be heard only on the music site for four weeks beginning March 22nd before being released to all digital music outlets. A third "Krafty" remix, the "Phone Reality Remix," will be available at iTunes beginning April 26th. The first album of new material since 2001's "Get Ready" and the follow-up to their 2002 boxset "Retro," "Waiting For The Sirens' Call" features the groundbreaking Manchester, U.K., band in the studio with producers Stephen Street (Blur, The Smiths), John Leckie (Pink Floyd, Stone Roses) and Stuart Price (Madonna). Key tracks include the above-mentioned single "Krafty," "Jetstream" (with vocals by New Order founding member Bernard Sumner and Scissor Sister Ana Matronic), "Morning Night And Day," "I Told You So," "Working Overtime," "Hey Now What You Doing," and the title track. Over the course of their 28-year career New Order has forever changed the face of pop music. "Love Will Tear Us Apart," which they recorded as Joy Division, has been chosen as one of The Brits 25 best songs ever written while "Blue Monday" is the world's best-selling 12" single of all time. New Order will be available for a select number of interviews only. MAC QUAYLE ANSWERED YOUR QUESTIONS

A little while ago, NewOrderOnline members were asked to send their questions to Mac Quayle, long time New Order collaborator and mixer/producer of the bonus track on the US version of Waiting For The Sirens' Call due by the end of April. So here they are: From Robert Monday, North Carolina, U.S.A.: (about Guilt is a Useless Emotion) So, how much of a difference can we expect? What are the stand out differences? New vocals sections? More guitar maybe? Just basic curiousity. MQ: My version is very different than Stuart’s – a lot more aggressive, more guitars, more Hooky – I think the vocals are pretty much the same though. You can visit Mac Quayle's website at http://www.macquayle.com See the rest of the Q&A sessions by clicking more, and you can preview the Mac Quayle vocal mix of Guilt Is A Useless Emotion by going to the discography page.

BERNARD SUMNER'S REVIEW OF MOBY'S TEMPTATION

This month the influential British pop band New Order will release "Waiting for the Siren's Call," its eighth studio album since it formed 25 years ago in Manchester, England. Speaking with Joel Topcik recently, the band's lead singer and guitarist, Bernard Sumner, discussed what he's listening to and why. Moby He just recorded a version of New Order's song "Temptation" for his new album, "Hotel" (V2/BMG), which he sent us for approval. The original is an up-tempo, almost danceable track, but it's got a really emotive quality to the lyrics. (Don't ask me what they're about; it's been so long.) I think it's one of our best songs live, and I'd go so far as to say it's my favorite New Order track of all time. I'm really glad Moby did a version of it. He slowed the track down and stripped it to its basic elements, and I think it really works. It displays the words and the melody in all their wonderful nakedness.

PETER HOOK INTERVIEW ON REMEMBER THE 80s

ALTHOUGH WE'VE KNOWN EACH OTHER FOR A GOOD FEW YEARS NOW, LAST TIME I SPOKE TO YOU YOU WEREN'T OFFICIALLY A GODLIKE GENIUS... That is true... although maybe I was and I just didn't realise it! It's a funny thing really - it's like no matter how many years you do this you're still fraught with the insecurities and the vulnerability and when you see all these youngsters - these good looking lithe young boys - running up to steal your fucking crown it does get you a little bit scared! One of the nicest things about doing the NME Awards and having them all there was that you didn't feel like the old grandad trying to get away with it... you actually felt like you were still part of it which was nice. We weren't as worried coming back with this album as we were with 'Get Ready' because we were really worried about that - about how people were going to perceive us... maybe because we'd sort of lost sight of New Order... AND DO YOU FEEL A BIT MORE FOCUSSED THIS TIME AROUND? Yes definitely... a lot more at ease, but the thing is that you still are wary - but I suppose that's a good thing really; a bit like being nervous before you go on stage and if you're not nervous then something's happened... 'WAITING FOR THE SIREN'S CALL' DOES SOUND LIKE A MORE FOCUSSED ALBUM... Well again it was that thing that because when we did 'Get Ready' we were really worried... and it was just that thing about not wanting to be too 'New Order' and I'm sat there going 'Well who the fuck are we going to be then? Please not The Cure!' it was like that - but then when you realised that, it would be good to start again and I personally believe that we could achieve that by looking backwards to Joy Division and writing in a differet way - more guitary, a more organic way, and just starting again. I think we succeeded there very well. As soon as we started playing 'Get Ready' of course all the punters were going 'Oh we miss Gillian, we miss all the keyboards, we miss all the New Orderisms' and all that... and really, truth be told, so did we!

ARTHUR BAKER TO SUPPORT NEW ORDER IN THE USA

New Order will be accompanied by their long-term collaborator, legendary producer and DJ, Arthur Baker, on their upcoming US tour. Baker will DJ between the support slot and New Order at their upcoming Oakland, Chicago and NYC shows and will also be at the Coachella Festival. After starring at the Easter weekend Happy Mondays reunion gigs at London's Brixton Academy, Baker commented on how he helped spark Hooky's interest in DJing, "Barney and Hooky DJ'd at my Return To New York event in London back in February 2003. Barney chose and played the whole set, they are competitive and it left Hooky thinking, 'I could do better than that !'". Baker also revealed plans for him and Hooky to DJ together at this years Glastonbury Festival. Last week, Baker opened a new American styled bar-restuarant, 'Harlem', within minutes walk of the Brixton Academy. Situated opposite the Ritzy cinema, Harlem has a cool vibe in keeping with a guy like Baker and is well worth checking out for either a pre-gig NY steak or after show come-down drinks. This venue compliments Baker's other diner on the Westbourne Grove, West London.
