I've just received an e-mail from the webmaster accusing me of lots of things I didn't do.And insulting my character a thing that I don't admit by anyone.

Insults and accusations without proofs.It's enough to me.

Don't need this website for nothing except making friends worldwide as I've been doing till doday.

About the swedish forum, why you did a joke about one of his posts there, where he announced something to sale ?? Why ?? If it was wrong, you joined it. Lot's of people posted in the swedish forum, not only Brazilians...you know that.

The "selling stuff" thing at the swedish forum was my fault. I did it once or twice, til Nicos give the :D No one have done anything like after it - actually Nicos' admonition was the last post

But it was just a "more obvious" cheat on the swedish forum. We know a lot of people did it in different degrees, including Seb. No big deal. It's over...

I was asking him... and in the same mail asking him to cool down a bit, because I didn't want everything to degenerate like I've seen too many times in the past!

The way i see it, Julio and maybe some other ppl here actually miss the point: Whats NOOL in the first place? For me its pretty simple really. Its a place for communication about our favourite bands, a place to talk, make new frineds, even sometimes argue with each other. It belongs to all its members, and its visitors, practically to the whole world. Thats the very essence of internet communication: the servers may belong to the webmasters, but the site belongs to its users, each having a small part of it... There is no written or ethical law saying that the webmasters or the users are supposed to act fair or anything. So, as far as I at least am concerned, i didnt become a member here, neither i keep belongin to that community, because i like all ppl here, or because im expectin Nic or anyone else to defend me, in case i ever feel insulted by anyone. Its simple as that really... So its pointless for me to seek whos right and whos not in this subject, first of all cos its none of my business, second, cos it doesnt matter anyway. So Julio, and i told him already, by leaving, regardless of if hes right or not, all he achieves is harmin himslef, his friends who love to reply to his posts, and nobody else really....

Posting a lot of crap and pissing people off? Gosh, am I to be the next to go? I don't know if I've garnered too many complaints over my span here, but I really think there's a lot of overreaction going on here. Still, we can hardly pass judgment on a situation without knowing the complete particulars, which would include who lodged complaints to the webmaster and what was said in private emails--but since I have no interest in prying into such private communiques for the so-called "common good" (like the US govt. does), the strange case of Julio shall remain shrouded in ambiguity. Julio brought this to everyone's attention through this thread, and some things have been made public, but not enough to look at the situation from an unbiased perspective--and I think if more details go public, some people will be very upset that their privacy was infringed upon.

This sort of thing happened involving a lot of people a long time back, didn't it? And they all came back.

I hate to see anyone leave under such wierd and harsh circumstances, so Julio if you're still looking on here let me say it's been nice knowing you, and I hope you change your mind and come back.

As for the whole amount of accusations going back and forth, it's usually been my experience that someone at one end of the exchange misinterpreted something or simply ignored something, and a misunderstanding occurs. It's really none of my business what happened, and I don't care to speculate. I certainly hope it's nothing serious enough to cause Julio to never want to return, but that's his decision and I respect that. Again, as with Muffy, I hope he changes his mind but I respect his wishes.

The basic problem here is people not always understanding what someone has said, which you will always get when non-English speakers trade banter with native English speakers, as what is a joke to some may be lost in translation. Similarly, something that may be innocuous or funny in Portuguese may be offensive when translated to an Englishman.

The simple answer here is for Julio to stop coming up with stupid comments to almost everything everyone says, and there will be no "afters". That is what has annoyed people the most I think. As Vic Reeves (or was it Bob Mortimer) once said "you wouldn't let it lie".

I have the utmost respect for any non-English speaker who tries to communicate in English, as I know that I couldn't get very far in French, and even less far in Spanish or Portuguese. I think all this current aggro has arisen though because something has got lost in the translation, I suspect from English to French.

Just starting to read this thread, but I want to say that Julio's package to me finally arrived (Recife->California)...I guess the postmen sometimes only make dupes. He threw in an extra CD, too. I may or may not comment about the 'goodbye' situation in another message.

Would be nice if there was option of ignoring postings from anybody somebody doesn't want to read, assuming that doesn't exist already. This is something Usenet clients have had for ages, but apparently isn't common with webboards yet.

As for this particular situation, I've seen much, much worse, but let's not make the opposite mistake of assuming everybody will be able to make up and it will be sweetness and light hereafter. I also don't agree that this is a case of "lost in translation"...that's too easy of a dodge. Posting a private message without the consent of the sender is generally frowned upon. While I suppose it doesn't matter who the sender was, it's generally a good idea not to get on the wrong side of your site admin, even if you meant that as a parting shot and you don't care anymore, you've lost the will to want more...oh no, I'm channelling a Joy Div lyric.

I hope however this is resolved, that it be done "behind closed doors". Of course, I've taken too much of your time with my own pontification, I think I'll go listen to the CDs Julio kindly made me instead...
