Never thought of John as a celebrity, conjures up thoughts of Posh and Becks, soap actors and Big Brother types. So I was surprised to see his name amongst this years ' contestants ' However, he claims one of his main motivations in agreeing to take part, is the fact that everybody told him not to. Meself, I cant wait to see what happens and I'm glad there appears to be somethin of a contrary cunt about him still. Any thoughts from other NOOLers

Totally agree with you, Gary. I can't believe the hypocrisy of newspapers like the Sun slating John for 'selling out his punk roots' by going on the show - it's not like they supported him 20 odd years ago when presumably he hadn't 'sold out' is it? I've never watched that programme before but I can guarantee I'll watch at least the first episode knowing John's going to be on it. Even though he's become something of a self parody these days, he's usually amusing to watch.

As a member of the first manufactured "boy-band", I'm sure he'll be perfectly at home.

what show is this then? I never usually watch any telly (apart from a few programmes that shall remain nameless ..) so I'm not up on this type of thing. Whatever rubbish show it may be, it'll be a laugh with JL on it, I'm sure

Is that a tongue-in-cheek statement? If it's not then it's wrong on at least two counts...firstly that the Pistols as a manufactured band only ever happened in Talcy Malcy's fevered imagination and secondly the Monkees happened a few years earlier!

It always amazes me how many people believe the bullshit that McLaren has spouted over the years about the Pistols. While they would never have existed without his presence (or the presence of his shop) and the clothes from his shop provided such a striking image for them (and to my mind still look good today - I still wear my 'God Save The Queen' bondage shirt occasionally!) as far as the music and behaviour of the band went, Malcy had no control over them whatsoever - he was terrified that they were all going to get arrested after the Bill Grundy incident!

I'm with Geri in not knowing what the hell you're talking about :D

John Lydon made the Pistols, let's not obscure that. The Pistols may have gotten their clothes and "situationist dogma" from McLaren, but Lydon wrote the songs and led the band on a collision course with the British 'establishment'. I love the man, he's one of my heroes (thus my fiercly anti-royalist stand, even though I'm American), and he's fucking awesome.

That said, the idea of him being on a reality show is a bit much. I'm trying to picture him on "Survivor", "Joe Millionaire" (that would be a hoot, actually: "I've got no fucking money and you're a tramp. We're using each other to ge famous. Are you stupid?"), or (gasp) American Idol (imagine what Simon would say! :evil4: )

Is this "Celebrity Mole", European edition, or something? Having seen the "celebrities" that are on the US edition, I can only imagine what kind of company he'd be in over there

Sorry chaps I thought ..' I'm a celebrity get me out of here ', was an American invention. Anyway the celebs are dropped into the jungle and have to survive each other and assorted jungle things ( snakes, spiders, Goldie, Roni Size , that kind of thing ) But yes the main motivations seem to be :

My agent wants to prove I'm alive. My soccer career is over. My silicone needs replacing. My tits are better than hers, I'm a proper model. My friend is Cliff Richard and he knows God. My career as a pop star is on 'hold', I'm into nature. My best friend is HRH Mrs Windsor, you know. And John. He should have fun.

Ah yes, the legendary "I'm A Celebrity, And this Is Cheaper than Humping Speilberg" :D

The US edition that featured Joan Rivers's equally obnoxious daughter, J. Lo's third or fourth husband, and various other has-beens or never-weres sort of made the title a lie right up front. If Lydon's going to be on there, it should be hilarious :thumb:

Will this be aired in the States?? I'd watch it just for him. They are using a 15 minute delay so they can be out his use of "colorful Language."

And who is that bird with the big fake tits??? They warned her that leeches may bite they causing the boobs to explode. That may be worth watching. Seen plenty of boobies but never any boomies!

That'll be the pneumatic Jordan (so named because she was the model used by the Jordan motor racing team for some adverts a few years ago, before she took the high-pressure route too literally and had her tits inflated to go with her ego). Real name Katie Price. Mate of mine has shagged her. Far more interesting will be the possibility of Mrs McFadden getting her real ones out !

I can just see John as "The Bachelor" (even though he's married) :evil4:

Just the image of John in a tux, surveying all these women who whore themselves out to be on TV and realize they've gotta spend time with him would totally negate any arguements I could make about the awfulness of "reality TV" :D

Anyone else wish they'd just leave him in the jungle when it's all over? He's got a real attitude problem.

Never watched Celebrity before but I will be making time this series just for Lydon. Hopefully they will let him grind Peter Andre's stupid face into the ground at some point. Oh wait, that's just my Celebrity Death Match dream again.

By the way, is it any coincidence that Lydon has a new album on the way?:)

I love the man and happy to hear something new from him in years, whatever he does, it's right. Living in Russia, I guess I'll never get a chance to see that show, alas :( (Though we have the same type of show here - where celebrities have to live in the jungle on islands and eat spiders and re-store their make-up as soon as a camera man steps back, I guess:)

Ha, I wonder if Mark E. Smith would do that kind of job? HOW??:D Get him to the real glamour he deserves for years of bitching :)

anyone who confesses they are re-uniting their band for money is alright with me. i dig his honesty. id love to see him on reality tv, it'll be funny (hopefully).

One of the bonuses about being unemployed is that I can watch this program all day (there's practically 24 hour coverage on ITV2). What's interesting to me is that John's dropped the 'Johnny Rotten' persona when he's in the camp with the others but it comes back again when he's being interviewed in that hut and when he was talking with Ant and Dec before and after going into the ostrich pen.

So is Barny going to be in the next series then? Or maybe Bob Smith?

It would probably help 'em lose weight at least. Though I suppose Celebrity Fat Club might be more useful, come to think of it. Not that I'm anyone to talk (currently on a diet, dammit)

He called himself 'John of the Jungle' tonight :thumb: He seems to be enjoying it all a lot more than most of the others.

The best bits are coming in the ITV2 broadcasts - John has been very chatty with all the others and has been talking about the inspiration behind his lyrics for 'Death Disco' (the death of his mother), expressing his admiration for George Best who'd signed an autograph for his mother when she was dying and was even having a long chat with Jenny Bond about his recording studio - apparently Nora (his wife and mother of Ari Up of the Slits for those who don't know) is doing a lot of recording there at the moment. He's being far more open with these people than he's ever been when he's been interviewed. Throughout the whole time so far he's been quite sickeningly cheerful, hasn't moaned about a thing and even refused to cheat when most of the others wanted to (he'd been made group leader for the day). Unfortunately a lot of the sound is cut "beacuse of legal reasons" which seems to include any songs that the celebs are singing - Dianne Modahl was organising some exercise routines the other day and they began to sing 'Anarchy in the UK' while doing these exercises but unfortunately the sound got removed!

I reckon Jennie Bond, Diane Modahl or Mike Read...

McFadden hopefully. But only on the provision that her and Brighton's finest page 3 girl give each other an oily tit rub live on ITV1.

Hopefully the viewers will note that the Bond fiendess smuggled illegal privileges into the camp, and should therefore be expelled, closely followed by Diane Modahl.

Since it's the Great British Public voting, I don't think Kerry McFadden will be the first to go - as far as rubs go, Jennie Bond has just been rubbing insect bite cream into Kerry McFadden's legs but there's been no sign of any oily tits yet...unless you count Peter Andre (who was grossly exaggerating what was in those cases when he got back to the camp yesterday!)

There is a lot of fondling on tonight's episode! Lord Brockett can't keep his hands off bodies- Jordan's legs and ass, and bits of Peter Andre!! John of the Jungle is behaving like a gentleman - he was ever so nice to Jenny Bond when they had to go off and find the treasure chest.

any more ???

John's been a lot calmer today from the bits I've seen - no kicking the camera in the Bush Telegraph room like Saturday, but he does go off by himself quite a bit now - presumably to get away from 'Jordan' (there's only one Jordan as far as I'm concerned, i.e. the one that used to work in McLaren's shop, not some silicone enhanced attention seeking bimbo). He was having a friendly little chat with Mike Read earlier about punk and Mike Read commented that punk was kind of a later version of skiffle with the 'anyone can do it' mentality and he called John 'the new Lonnie Donegan' which John found quite funny! Jennie Bond was surprised at how little time the Sex Pistols had been in existence for (tho' John also seems confused about the dates - he claims to have been 17 when he became famous and that the Pistols were only around for a year!). He's getting on very well with Alex Best and Charlie Brockett - he commented that Brockett 'was the sort of royalty I don't mind paying my taxes for'. The celebs all had letters yesterday and had to read each others' out - John got a very lovey-dovey one from Nora read out by Diane Modahl and in turn John read out Dianes' letter (wearing reading glasses!)...he said later that he was very glad his letter had been read out by Diane. Best bit so far has got to be the expression on John's face when Peter Andre was singing the latest compostion he's written in the jungle - a truly awful song and John's face said it all! Followed by the unintentionally hilarious Andre commen 'Perhaps I ought to get some singing lessons one day'. John did invite Peter over to his house in LA next time he's there tho'... First celeb to be voted out will be tonight...!

There's also just been a very interesting bit where Diane Modahl was talking about her positive drugs test, her reaction to it and how she set about proving her innocence. Unfortunately this type of thing is never shown on the main evening program - they're far keener to show 'Jordan' and Peter Andre with a bulge in his trousers presumably because it's 'better television'. The most disturbing aspect has to be the text messages they show - viewers are invited to send text messages (at 50p a shot plus the normal text message cost) in response to various questions that appear on the screen. Of course with the general intelligence of the Great British Public these texts usually end up as something like "I luv Jordon she is fit will u marry me" or "Razor 2 win coz he is da man" etc. etc. Still, the makers are laughing all the way to the bank!

Haven't watched TV for over 2 years now, but GOD I wish I could watch this show!

But what about Jordan and McFadden having to eat the cockroaches and grubs. And fish eyes. Disguuuusting!

Latest!! Mike's been sent home, it was between him and Jenny Bond. There has been even more fondling on the programme tonight -a blindfold 'feel the ass and guess whose it is' contest!! John of the Jungle is still being perfectly wonderful - feisty, bitchy but honest.

Bit of a shame to see him go...but he (like Diane Modahl) has been badly served by the editing that goes on for the main show on ITV1. Obviously the Great British Public is more interested in 'Jordan's' fake tits and Peter Andre's godawful songwriting. Dunno why they didn't show more of that Feel The Arse game 'cos that was quite funny...it changed to Feel the Nose a bit later on and they didn't show any of that...

It's one of those things that's difficult to describe but it's funny when you watch it! It's disappointing that they didn't show it 'cos then you'd see what I mean - but it was kind of a spontaneous uncontrived activity that never seems to get a look-in in the main programme. Suffice to say, there was much feeling of body parts and most (if not all!) guesses were somewhat wide of the mark. Peter Andre was convinced that he was feeling the same nose each time even tho' he clearly wasn't...unless Mike Read, Alex Best and Kerry McFadden all share the same nose but he guessed John's because it was running! They're all singing Happy Birthday to Kerry McFadden now and John's doing his impression of a birthday cake by wandering around with a small candle stuck on top of his head, singing like George Formby! His head's covered in melted and re-solidified wax and his verdict on the Treasure hunt thing was "Fuck that silver chest thing today" until one of the others pointed out that there may be some shampoo in one of them......and it's really pissing with rain on there now...!

You evidently have your computer in the same room as your TV. Who do you think is playing a game to be the winner? I would guess it must be Jordan or Peter.....

I only add these messages during the ad breaks or when Tara Palmer-Tomkinson's on! 'Jordan' Is the one playing games to try and win whether it's doing that bush tucker trial in that bikini or creating a talking point with Peter Andre...I think he's too thick to be able to contrive a strategy.

Re.Peter Andre -He is being led by the 'nose' by Jordan but my feeling is that they are both publicity junkies and will do any thing to get max. coverage. PA is a very tasty specimen of manhood tho' (apart from his ego)!:eek3:

For those that don't have access to this wonderful piece of television, John let fly with a volley of abuse when he learnt that he hadn't been voted out today..."Fucking cunts" was his verdict prompting all sorts of humble apologies by the presenters for the naughty language!

Diana has been voted out now - and she was upset when she was shown a clip of Jordan calling her two-faced. She's chosen Jordan to do the nasty stuff tomorrow to get herown back. John of the Jungle's outburst stopped everyone in their tracks - horrified silence!

And John's claim that Steve Jones of the Pistols had liposuction on his stomach - the bruising allegedly spread downwards causing his testicles to swell to Buster Gonad like proportions!

Razor Ruddick is tonight's throw-out. He seemed very pleased - just kept on about the food -or lack of it. When he was asked about the others he said being around John of the Jungle was 'just like being married, really'!

Pete went off with Kerry on a treasure hunt, they were successful and very cheerful when they got back -the cameras showed that Jordan was really p....d off! she didn't cheer up until Pete gave her a lot of (on camera)kisses and smiles Uh oh!! Someone isn't the centre of attention.

Whoever's in charge of her PR has obviously told her to make herself the centre of attention (with a great deal of help from the programme's editors)...but she'll have trouble doing that if Peter Andre goes (here's hoping!)

It is starting to look more and more like the star players in this possibly massaged scenario are the balloon boobed one -Jordan, and the massive ego one - Pete. The rest are just there for effect. Fortunately John of the Jungle, Kerry and Milord Brockett are screwing up the plan. 'Conventional' anarchy or wot? Yes I know it's a contradiction in terms but it seems to fit!

Nah, they should put Jordan's boyfriend in. That would liven things up!

But this is what John's done for the whole of his career - walking out on the Pistols when they could've become the biggest band on the planet, turning PiL into a cabaret band when they received (their rightful) recognition as a gifted, innovative band after initially being mercilessly slagged, etc. etc. It's a shame he's gone as it really was incredibly entertaining watching him but at the end of the day, who really cares? Let's just hope the monkeys of his chosen charity still get some benefit from this!

It won't be the same now that John's gone. He did turn up to do a post-mortem and was still just as scathing about certain elements of the group still in camp. He's gone off to look at great whites. No one else was voted off tonight, that pleasure comes tomorrow - if anyone can be bothered to watch.

Oh yeah, The Jordan/Pete Andre affair has suddenly turned sour Anyone else -yes I know I'm sad, stil watching it but so what!!

Thanks Dee. Just read that they won't allow him back even if he wanted to, and there won't be a replacement either. Quite rightly so ! I think it was all part of the plan though, we didn't really expect him to do something according to the script, did we ?! :D

Haven't bothered watching it since John went...don't really care who wins now 'cos it's no longer even worth watching! It just goes to show that even 20 years after he did anything (musically) of any worth he can still (deservedly!) make you watch him!

The end of this thread then. Kerry can go home and kiss her babies' toes, Jordan can enjoy her new status as teaser of the month, Pete will probably be on top of the Pops next week, no one will ever trust two-faced Rocket BROCKETT again, John of the Jungle will be nursing his injuries from Jordan's mum's (alleged) attack and the others will fade back into media oblivion.

Not quite...there's three programmes this week on ITV2 catching up with the celebs once they've come out of the jungle. Not sure whether the cameras were there for the alleged bust up but it'll be on tomorrow's programme if they were. We'll also be able to see whether Razor Ruddock really did chuck John and his mate Rambo out of Bryan McFadden's party after John had a go at Fatboy McFadden about boy bands and apparently swore and upset Ruddock's wimpy brats...'cos Ruddock never ever swears at all does he? Timmy Mallett was apparently only the stand in if one of the male celebs had walked early on and the producers had pulled out all the stops for the female stand in...the woman who played Tiffany's mum in EastEnders!

I think Philip is referring to Carol Harrison. Shame she wasn't in it, for the 'older woman' she's a lot more pleasing on the eye than Jennie Bond. And her accent ain't as irritating. Wasn't she married to Jamie Foreman (son of Freddy) - could've had a few spicey tales to tell!!

Bit unfair to call the McFadden lad 'fatboy' now Philip (or are you referring to Steve McFadden??!) cos Bryan's done a Jardel and lost 3st on the Atkins recently. Probably means he weighs less than his wife now!!!

;)

Anyone who loses weight that quickly only puts it straight back on again since it's fluid loss rather than lard loss! He'll be Fatboy again before long...

Just watched tonight's show and all I can say is if Fatboy McFadden has lost weight then he must've looked like Giant Haystacks' overweight brother beforehand! No sign of any violence at the McFadden barbecue and Jordan's mother didn't say anything about having given John a slap so maybe both stories were just tabloid bollocks.
