my best friend came to visit this past week and we spent a glorious evening at medieval times! if you've seen 'the cable guy' you'll know what i'm talking about.

anyhoo, it's a magnificent display of chivalry in its cheesiest form. we ate four courses with our hands, drank watery beer, and, as we were seated in the blue sixth of the arena, wore blue crowns and cheered on the blue knight (i banged a lot of pewter plates and bowls together in my excitement). our knight jousted poorly and died in a nail-biting sword battle against the red knight. alas, the yellow knight won the hand of the king's daughter. my friend thought he looked too much like peter scolari (of 'bosom buddies' and 'newhart' fame) to be a chivalrous knight, and i concurred. the green knight should have won--he was hot and had swashbuckling hair.

My sister-in-law's wedding was medieval, that was nice ;)

We do have a festival once a year called "Les Fêtes de la Nouvelle-France" which is held in Quebec City, which is purely medieval in the old city, so it actually look more like it, since the city date from that time... :D
