who do you think will advance further, win the world series and all that jazz?
from the AL, Boston will go far. I want to see them win it all. In the NL, I cannot see anyone beating St. Louis. However, Houston is on an amazing roll. OK, i'll say Boston and St. Louis in the World Series, and Cards win it all.
Tristan, nice way for the dodgers to clinch the division!!! Hope they go far. Id love to see them in the world series.
Well, what can I say... now that the Expos are history, I have 2 teams I wish that can go further.
The Dodgers with Éric Gagné... the only person from Québec in MLB right now... and the Angels with Vlad, the best baseball player ever produced from the Expos organization....
I know I have high hopes, but dreaming never harmed anyone ;)
I'd like to see the Dodgers make it, I'm sick of all these fucking "wildcard" wins. It's great for one year, maybe two, but now we need to let it come down to the overal league leaders. That's what the Series is about. I'm not saying get rid of the wildcard, just let the league cmaps duel it out.
That being said, I'd like to see Boston get to the Series, but I doubt they can match up against the Yanks. Then again, the Yanks have no pitching, they're probably good enough to get by the Twins but not much further.
I don't think the Cards can get up enough momentum to advance to the Series, if only because they're so used to having the National League leadership position that they may be strung out.
And let's not forget the Astros...

Should be quite an interesting playoff, all of the teams have their strengths and weakneses.
Don't think the Dodgers can get by St. Louis, though I'd love for them to, it's 7 to 2 right now for the Cards.
Braves and Astros should be a great series, as well as the Bosox and Angels. Yankees will get by the Twins (again).
Once again, as has been documented here before, there is no way in the world I want Boston to win, their fans I've come into contact with have made me root for the Yanks. Win something first Boston, and then start yapping; until then, shut the hell up, we all know Pedro's late season swoon is no mirage, and Schilling can't do it all by himself, unless there's a ton of rainouts 
Hope to see an Angels and Astros series, doesn't matter to me who wins.

Great ALCS game last night, at least Boston did not go quietly, at least the first game lived up to all of the hype about the series.
Schilling's tough, no doubt about that, and the Bosox certainly have the hitting to take down the Yanks, but we'll see how Pedro responds tonight, and if any of the rest of Boston's maddingly inconsistent staff steps up (looks like Curt probably won't be available, but we'll see).

Apparently, now that the Dodgers are gone and the Sox down 2-0, most of the interest is gone from the playoffs. Bit bummed that the game was rained out tonight.
Cardinals look strong, we'll see what happens now that Clemens and Oswalt pitch.

What a difference a few days make
First Ortiz with that colassal homer to keep the Bosox alive, then he does it again with a bloop to center that sends Jesus Damon around the bags to end a fourteen-inning monstrosity. I'm not saying the Sox are gonna come back and win it all, but the past two nights it's been an actual series, not a walkover for the overpaid, overhyped, overdone New York Yankees. If they want to advance to the WS, they're gonna have to kill Boston to do it. Then again, Aaron "Freaking" Boone last year isn't such a distant memory. But for right now, the Sox are playing their guts out 
I haven't been keeping up with the NLCS, but I think that's a pretty evenly-matched series, too close to call.

Funny how the NLCS is almost seen as an afterthought for a large part of the country, I still see more hype for the Yanks/Sox series by far.
True. The sucking vortex that is the immortal Yankees-Sox series will not even let light escape from it. Even if the Astros trotted out George W. Bush in full flight suit to pitch the ninth, and the Cards countered with John Kerry pinch-hitting in nothing but a thong, ESPN would still devote it's entire staff to the AL East.
But I watched the end of the game between the Astros and Cards last night and it was incredible baseball!!! That Carlos Beltran is really something... have you seen a replay of his fantastic catch from yesterday? UNBELIEVABLE!!!

that johnny damon guy (red sox) went to the high school i teach at. he was friends with my roommate (also an alum)--she has some good photos of him in the late '80s/early '90s with a fantastic mullet.
one of the astros players went to our school, as well, but i can't remember who.
and zack greinke's (KC royals) dad is a fellow teacher in the social studies department. bit of a baseball heritage at dr. phillips high in orlando!

It looks as is St. Louis and Boston will face each other in the WS, so I hope that the Cards stick it to Boston. I've been perusing sports message boards lately, and some Boston fans think they have a lock on this WS. The Cards have a legendary lineup, the second best defensive unit in baseball (statistically behind the Dodgers) [BTW what a catch by Edmonds tonight!], and they have the best bullpen. And what would people of Boston have to mope about with a winning baseball team :p. I would love to see Edmonds be the WS MVP.
The New York fans are outraged on some baseball boards -- A-Rod is now "Gay-Rod", "A-Fraud", "Pay-Rod". 
As for the Cards - Sox series, I expect it to be a good one, and would not give total advantage to the Cards, only for the fact that the Red Sox have now the feeling that nothing can stop them... and that feeling can turn things to be true!
Jeez, my Bosox coworker came in work today and let out a couple of unholy primal screams today, along with a few FU's for the Yankees.

Kansas City is basically one city divided by the state line. Kansas City, Mo is the "proper" place I guess. It is where downtown is and all the sports teams and what not (basically everything). Well all except for some track where people race cars. I think it is called nascar or something. lol Kansas City, KS is basically the wrong side of the tracks. Kansas City Royals... they have always been one of my favorite teams in MLB !
Always underdogs... they never get that much exposure... but just like the Expos, they have produced tons of talents that, eventually, was traded to money-packed teams. 
Carlos Beltran is the latest example of that, of course. Johnny Damon is another example. The Royals could have been a dynasty if it had retain its best players for the last 10 years and had the money to add 2 or 3 impact players.
Other great or good players who emerged from the Royals farm system that come to mind:
Joe Randa Mike Sweeney Dan Quisenberry George Brett Mark Davis??? Maybe I'm mistaking with another closer... the guy who owned the record before Gagné... Others ???
Willie Wilson and Frank White are two other Royals who came up through their farm system. I've also had a soft spot for KC, with family connections in KC and Topeka.
Pitchers must be very nervous... 7th inning, and 9 points tonight are the results of walks... 
I don't want Boston to win. If they do, the city'll go crazy, with a bunch of drunken frat boys breaking stuff around Fenway park. Until the series is over, I'm staying in my room.

Ever since I got interested in baseball, I've had an admiration for the Red Sox. I have a cap that I bought back in '92 or '93, it's a Starter Bosox cap (one of those with an adjustable strap in the back, coming in handy seeing as how my head has swelled over the years), from the Sunday that Game Four against the Yankees it hasn't moved from its place in my room. Last night, I finally put it on after the toss from Foulke to the first baseman. I don't think I'll go ape and get a MLB-issued players cap, but I may ask for an away or home jersey with Schilling's number for Xmas
