Unless the margin of the Ohio race decreases soong, then it will be almost inane for Kerry to challenge. Oh well, maybe Bush can soundly win Michigan and NM so that Ohio won't matter.

And...

For Kerry to win Ohio, he would have to win an overwhelming majority of the provisional balllots to possibly win.

Bush has won, but there is still a miniscule chance Kerry could win Ohio. Right now Bush has around a 140K lead, but there are 147 provisional ballots (they are given to somebody who wants to vote that the poll workers don't find on the registration list or they think the person is committing fraud) out plus military absentee ballots (the military usually goes 3-1 for Bush). The fact is that usually most provisional ballots are not going to count and that military ballots will only help Bush. I suspect Kerry will concede soon, and Bush will win with a 3 and a half million vote lead. He will be the first president since his father to have more than 50% of the American vote. Also both chambers of Congress have become more Republican. This was a catastophic defeat for the Democrats and the US will be controlled by a conservative executive, legislative and judicial (the Supreme Court has a conservative majority). This will not change for another two years.

The economy is usually not something a president can change, if anything Bush's tax cuts helped the American economy not to slump as much as it could have. The economy will be fine when oil prices decrease and stabilize (which it seems to be doing now). According to exit polls, the number one factor in their decision was morality. Karl Rove did a brilliant job in rousing the evangelical Christians to vote, and the gay marriage (which I disagree with president Bush about) votes in ten states helped Bush in getting the conservative base to the polls.

I never really knew what Kerry's plans were.

That aint a campaign, it's shit. At least Dean had the balls to tell it like it is and where he stood. Lieberman would have been a better choice only if he was not a zombie.

I hope Ted Kennedy remembers the gift Nixon gave to JFK in 1960 (close election, voter fraud induced by JFK mob cronies in Illinois gave JFK the win of the state and the country). Nixon realized that it would be most likely he would not be able to win the election, and he conceded for the good of the country (now where the fuck did his interest of the country go during the 72 campaign). Ted should tell Kerry to give it up already.

Quite clearly, the economy is something the president can change. While i admit that there will be ups and downs with most economies, the economic policy of any leader will inevitably affect any economy.

There are examples of this highlihted throughout history, is suppose the best example is thatchers economic policy in the 80's, and the switch from keynes economic theory to monetarism, which fooked/perfected, the UK economy depending on who you speak to.

IMHO, i think it is an extremly sad indictment on any society that people will vote in their drives on so called moral issues. Have people lost control of their minds? What is more important, if Uncle Paul and Auntie Jack from down the street want to get married, who really cares, and what business is it of anyone elses? Compare the importance of this with the state of the economy, with millions more unemployed than four years ago, the current international political climate, with hostility breeding partly due to america current ultra Hawkish government,(amongst other reasons) the environmental situation, the crisis in welfare...

What i found absolutely amazing was some person on the TV said that Dubya was going to jeep the country safe? Sure, he was keeping the country safe in summer 2001 preventing terrorist attacks. The next four years are going to be a disaster for the planet, one can only wonder what policies bus will enact with a bigger mandate in his eyes.

For an American president to have great control over the economy, he/she would have to go after business and force industries to do things one way or another, and that does not happen here. The tries to step up to Microsoft, it threatens to move to Vancouver, Microsoft steps down. The government can affect the amounts of money people have in their pockets to spend with their power over taxes, but it's hard, nearly impossible, for a president to change the market system.

Democracy? What democracy would that be? Being "free" to choose between who's "less worse" does not qualify for the term... How about you look at California. Bush won in San Diego County, Orange County (has the city of Anaheim and many rich neighborhoods), San Bernandino County, Riverside County, Kern County, and Ventura County. Kerry didn't lose because of NRA members, wackos with guns, but he did lose because of the religious right. The Democrats campaign failed to sway the religious conservatives, and it was his downfall. If people are so mad and angry, then they will vote for Democrats for the legislature in two years.

Don't know how Kerry would lead economics, religion, or whatever. But be sure that's is much more problable you'll have problems with terrorism with Bush still on power then if anyone else was there. Now the terrorism will be lead against America AND Bush.

(Though I think the problem has ALWAYS been Bush - did you have terrorism problems during Clinton's governament?)
