Funny though, usually american votes are 50-55% of the people that can vote only.
That's quite low, I think only municipal elections get that in Canada... the 1995 referendum on the independance of Quebec had a 92% participation!

And a 52-54% turnout is very good actually! Not everyone can vote on election day. This figure does NOT take into account the MILLIONS of absentee ballots from here and overseas either. Shit, you've got about 1,000,000 just coming from US Forces stationed abroad!! (70% voted Bush!)
AND...it is out right to exercise should we choose NOT to vote. Which is great if that's your bag, and to many it is and I don't give them any shit about it as it is their choice. And some people just plain CAN'T get out there and vote. But the voters turned out in record numbers and they spoke.
And in that...I am proud of them.
