Sorry for the little plug on the board.

I wanted to to announce the official launch of our Net Radio station, Retroforward Radio. Some of you guys have been listening the past couple month while we were practicing and gearing up for our launch.

In addition to me, We have other djs that you guys may be familiar with at new order online. There's Kamar Khan. Some of you tune in to his show monday nights on wluw.org. Now you can listen to his Destination Unknown show on both retroforward radio and wluw. Kamar will be djing on retroforward at other time. You may be also familiar with Tracey, Lead singer of Alight. They entered our new order community contest with thier pretty cover of Guilty Partner. Then There is LisaQbot. Regular listeners to kamar's show knows her from the chatroom and also as kamar's subsitute dj. Finallly we have Pedro Marzo. He's a member of NOOL, and post occasionally. We're live sometimes, but most of the time we have a preset playlist. The station is now on 24/7.

To listen and for more info got to, http://www.retroforward.com/radio

Oh yeah, Starting this Monday at 8 pm eastern, I will be premiering my new order show, DNE RADIO. I will be playing nothing but new order related material.

:D

thanks!

hey, fellas! proud to announce that missus Ishtar and me will be DJing on Retroforward Radio on wednesdays, 4PM to 6PM (ET USA). the show is called Underground and we´ll be playing songs from unknown artists from all over the world. the link between them will be the influence by the most important bands of the 80s. we´ll try to be as diverse as possible playing rock, pop, dance, acoustic or whatever. believe me, there´s a bunch of talented artists over there, waiting to be discovered. we´ll try to be the bridge between them and the Retroforward listeners.

see you there, then! :thumb:

There are tons of things that would be useful on this radio, I guess Kamar is the expert, but I believe having archives (so you can hear back the show you missed from the previous week) and automatically save playlists so you can know what has been played at a specific moment in a show.

That'd be nice... but that's the developper in me, I'd also love to have the stats, so I can know how many people are listening to my show ;)

Obviously I seem to be the only one who'll play mainstream music

How many people will it take to need more bandwidth?

And we should have banners... I'd say I'd put some here, but it'd be nice to have Community banners on there as well ;-) A link on the main page to the forums would be nice too.. I have to find it, I know there were some forums, but it took me a while to find them.

having repetitions is not a bad idea. as the radio has a potentially worldwide audience, some shows become unlistenable for some people because of the different time zones. for ex, my show is on air at 6PM Arg time which means it´s a cool hour for my countrymen to listen getting back from work. at the same time is 4PM ET US and 1PM PST US, which is not the most comfortable hour to listen to the radio. and at the same time it´s 11PM in Greece which means is a great hour to chill out. if we go more to the east we´ll find people sleeping while i´m streaming.

so having a repetition opens the chances for everyone to listen. besides it fills the schedule a lot more!

that would be a great idea nic! your show is on 5am my time and I'll never be able to listen otherwise

ah those thing you mentioned are planned nic. In the Phase"2" of the site. It's put on hold at the moment because the accident me and my wife were involved on thanksgiving. That is why i was not able to put up the new Dj profiles. My Mother in law arrived today to help out. so that might free up some time for me :)

we should promote our shows during other shows. we can choose someone to be productions manager and their job is to make 30 second or 60 second commercials promoting a certain show and then that clip is emailed to everyone who them imports it into their playlist and every half an hour play one of the commercials (we like to use "show promo" instead of commercial) but it's the same thing. if we can't find one person to make all the commercials then we each need to make one of our own.

basic info needed:

name of show, who the host (s) is/are, what is played, what time, what day"

for example:

tune in monday nights @ 10pm for destination unknown as your host Kamar spins the best from 80's new wave and industrial and present day synth-pop and ebm. destination unknown can only be heard on wluw chicago's independent community radio mondays @ 10.

or something like that :)

Gee, I'm never live before I fear I'd screw up and nobody would understand, that would be a challenge ;)

I'm listening to Retroforward and I can't believe the music I'm hearing. With this station and my New Order CD's I'm set. :thumb: The DJ's are also doing a GREAT job. The only negative is I can't seem to get the station at work  I think our firewall is blocking it.

Oops! Sorry for the error, the mp3 was mislabeled, and I just read it out on the air without thinking about it. By the time I realized it, it was too late. I will be more careful next time...

Thanks for listening! :)

By the way Tracey... what happened with the other tribute album, did you ever get the chance to rework your cover?!?! I'd love to hear that!

As for the radio, let's just hope it won't be a victim of its own success, as the ISP is already yelling.

Been there, done that ;)

Well, at least there is one person out there

Too bad I had to truncate my playlist, there is a new show at midnight, so the end of the list is not too good.

Actually I had a bad time picking songs today, don't know why...
