The new one is out on airplay in the UK today with Chris from Coldplay, Fran from Travis, Dido, Will Young, The Darkness, McCartney on bass, Thom Yorke on the ivorys and Bono on vocals to name just a few.
No New Order unfortunately. Not a single woot.
Personally, it sent a shiver down me spine. I liked it. But I am an old sop.

Travis, coldplay, Dildo, Willy young...... right fooking bland bunch of nobodys. Crap song, good cause but think what was spent on Iraq and this is just pissin' in the ocean.

Without meaning to sound old, I preferred the original (twas one of the first singles I bought) Hell (as Jeff would say) I even preffered the 1989 version with Kylie and Jason!

The original and best IMHO. Down the local on a Christmas Eve with Slade & Roy Wood and the original on the jukey.
I plan to buy it, then go next door to the charity shop and give it away. I do NOT intend to listen to the thing - there are limits to what I'm prepared to do even for a good cause!
The problem i have is this: The media and ourselves are STILL not talking about the issue at hand, namely millions of people starvintg to death or being killed. Whats the headline news today? Prince Charles has made another gaffe. I find this on the BBC website:

Chances are this wont get a mention on the news tonight. But i the video premiere of band aid will, and how nice all those celebrities are giving up a couple of hours of their time. I think the intentions of geldof et al are extremly honourable, but i do believe that the celebrity distracts from the message.
What i find extremly sad about this band aid is that the main story is that justin hawkins (no surprise here) started sulking and claiming that his version of a line was better than bonos. How sad. 
I intend to give £5 to charity instead of partaking in what i consider to be a great cause delivered by the wrong means.
Just heard it. It's crap. The old BA line-up would beat the new line-up hands down in a game of BA top-trumps!
Let me just say though, that I hope it raises an exceptional amount of money for the cause.
Haven't heard it yet, so I can't say whether or not it's better. Bit of a waste of time, though; the people who the money's intended for are still in the same mess they were in 20 years ago and I doubt this'll make much difference. Sorry to be so pessimistic!
There's nothing more hollow than celebs trying to raise money for charity with a "mega-event" which probably will net enough money to actually solve the problem, but which will be laundered by the various artists' agents, managers, coke-addled girlfriends and hangers-on, and so on 
Plus, Hooky ain't on it 
It's crap and then that screeching guitar comes in at the end and it descends into super ultra shitness.
Good cause though 
The song is naff in my opinion, so it doesn't really matter which version. Some really dodgy lyrics as well, not least the "well tonight than god it's them, instead of you" line which Justin Hawkins and Bono were supposed to be competing over.
Good cause but sadly won't make much difference
