I'm glad I'm not the only one.
I am looking forward to seeing it, but I am not going to ever camp out for a movie. I did that once for a Smashing Pumpkins signing, and I am never doing again. Mind you, I only camped out for less than a day, rather than a month or two like some Star Wars fanatics are doing for each movie.

Which Pumpkins' signing did you do that for? In 2000, I camped out in Philly but I was still about 3 blocks away.
I camped out for the Toronto signing. We basically stayed in line on an honour system, where a group of us would go into Burger King or Tim Hortons (because they are the only thing in the middle of the night around that area) to warm up occassionally. It had been unseasonably warm spring weather in late February, early March but then the night before the signing, there was a blizzard..fun.
Much more like it. Certainly the best of the prequels by far. Very very dark and plenty of action.

Tim ho's rocks. I moved away from buffalo, and miss their peanut donuts. Cant find them in nyc.
I actually saw on the first nite as a favor to a friend. Im not really into star wars but was pleasantly suprised by it. Very dark, epic, shakesparean.
I must be honest here... it's the first Star Wars movie that I actually enjoyed a lot.
You know, others were ok, but it's "Star Wars", so you know what to expect and it was ok, but nothing great.
But this one is simply amazing... 2h30 that feels like 10 minutes...
Maybe I was the same when the first one came out, but I was so young that I can't say, and I watched Return of the Jedi on our TV when it just came out in video...
Episode I and II, liked them, but well, wasn't hooked.. but now I am.
Seriously, the CGI are so wonderful you don't notice them...
Anyways, was worth it, even if I saw the french translation! I'll have to listen to it in english to ear James Earl Jones once again ;)
Not that Lucas hasn't screwed up the originals enough, but he should really go back and fix up the puppet Yoda and puppet Jabba, as well as the stop-motion Taun-Tauns and AT-AT walkers...they are really looking dated.
The new Yoda could be so much more interesting if he did a little more in The Empire Strikes back...The CGI in the prequels is very cool.
He should also fix all the crap he thought he fixed, like the Jabba scene with Han, Greedo shooting first, and the terrible Boba Fett dialogue that was overdubbed with the new actor...it was totally un-Boba Worthy.
I left the theater with only one thought....where the f#$* was Han Solo? :(
Going by the chronology, Han had to be a few years older than Luke/Leia, and Chewbacca even made an appearance. So why no Solo? 
Otherwise, it was great (certainly the best of the prequels)

Hmmm...maybe because Harrison Ford is old enough to play the Emperor now.

But River Phoenix is already long dead. Maybe Lucas is afraid to doom another young actor to death with the curse of INDY.
hmm, i must say i´m disappointed with this one. even though i think is the best of the prequels we must admit that it wasn´t too hard to beat Episodes I and II. the main problems remain on the 3 of them IMHO. the actors are bad or act below their capabilities, depending the case. and the special effects are over the quality of the script. i really was hoping more of this one. yeah, we knew how it would end but i was hoping for better resolutions of the main stories. Anakin goes to the dark side with almost no conflict at all. the love affair with Padme is almost untouched. the twins are born and named quite quickly. the inclusion of Chewbacca, Jar Jar and Qui Gonn on the story are certainly unnecessary (they add more confusion to someone who watched the 6 episodes more than once!). the jedis die with almost no opposition, making them look a lot more stupid than they made us think they were. Mace Windu and the Emperor are a lot more fragile than they should be according to the powers they must had... and many more!

That's all (the new) Star Wars is, one great big computer generated effect. Once you get past the cliched reactions of most fans "whoa dude KEWLLLL lightsabre fights" there isn't really much there. Wooden actors, dialogue a five year old could do a better job of, and essentially no storyline beyond what your average Star Wars fan already knew. There were moments in Ep III when I was squirming in my seat at the sheer awfulness of the script 
I gladly shelled out for the first 3 on DVD but I won't be buying this one.
The original trilogy were a great set of films and still look realistic today, I really wanted the new ones to be in that same league. I agree with that reply that Lucas screwed up by "CGIing the old ones up", that was one of the dumbest things I'd seen. He did that four or five years ago and they were such bloody pointless additions nobody noticed them in the end... Lucas: "Yah, I thought that bar scene needed another alien or two", he must've been well bored. A film captures a moment in time, going back and inserting new stuff ruins that moment.
It's sad but Lucas has shifted the bar from creating interesting and memorable stories to simply inserting overactive CGI sequences and endless lightsabre fights to cover up the fact he's out of ideas. So much more could have been done with the SW universe of characters at his disposal There are some cracking SW games and books out there, I think the reason the new trilogy has been such a disaster is that he insisted on writing, producing and directing it all himself. Meglomania if you ask me. The best SW films, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi were directed by someone else and it shows.

Not according to Lucas' bank account though... 
But obviously when you compare this to the Lord of the Rings trilogy, it's not in the same league.
But still, I had fun watching all these... how I should seriously watch the 3 of them in one shot when I'll have the DVD for Episode 3... I don't even remember Episode 2 !!
