O.K. it's regional culture that differs. We here in Westfalia e.g. have other than the people in Cologne 100 km away.
I know what you mean. That South German (Bavarian) and Austrian culture is quite different from the sober Protestant North Germany where I am from (Bremen). All that Umpa Umpa music and Lederhosen slapdancing etc is very foreign to me. I do however acknolege that it is part of German culture.
German culture emcompasses a large range of regional variations.

It's been a LONG time since I read the story-- don't remember much of it. I asssume you mean "the musicians" never made it to Bremen?

I do rememer a story though of German armies, yes in those days the German states sold their armies, fighting for Britain during the war of independance switching their allegiance.

...'Schwabien (?)' (you mean the 'Schwabenland') is a region in Germany, where the centre of it is Stuttgart, so, Bavaria (another big region in Germany) is the southly neighbour of it and Austria is the southly neighbour of Bavaria...

He is kind of grandfather of german (Fun-)Punk. It is not my thing really...
If you look at his alcohol (and drug?) use in early days you can entitle him as the german Ozzy Osbourne.

That's the trouble with Germany and europe as a whole, there's just too much to see. Myself when there only made it to Hamburg twice, Amsterdam once. Never made it to Munich even though we once had a big Bavarian South German driving holiday.
