:banghead: what i can't stand is how the american media always looks at how the london bombings affect us americans. i think that's terrible and the media here always has to spin others misfortunes to make us the center of attention. how pitiful

Well, normally I'd agree. But since it's brittain, I got no sympathy (for the REPORTING that is, before anyone reads that wrong) We INEVENTED the racist,navel-gazing news, even before you lot ( which I realise is gobsmacking, given the usual US-held belief tha the rest of the world is a series of tiny islands off the US coast.....which is why it's so darned hard to drop the bombs on the right country).

And even inside their own country....4 bombs used to go off in Belfast in a single day a coupla times a month, barely got a mention. Endless slaughters here (over the whole period of "the troubles" it works out to about 2 stiffs a week, but there were LONG quiet years and a LOT of casualtyless bombings, so in active times the running total was much higher.

the mainland news....if someone in london received minor injuries ( like they lost the hair on their forearm) because of an IRA letter bomb....headline news..STOP PRESS. But 5 of the boghoppers getting turned into chunky salsa while out shopping.....THAT got put in between Di[1]'s new dress and some panda who couldn't get it up. So don't feel bad about your news, for once you guys can take the high ground and deserve it :)

BTW several million points to "red ken" for pointing out that "London survived the IRA, now would everybody fuck up and stop doing what these wankers want" (OK, I paraphrased a little)

[1] I actually got a documentary that had something about her in it, made before she was squished. I'm SO glad cos it's proof of the rewriting of history. Before she died, the Brits fucking detested her, soon as she coupa they love her, and deny there was ever any other sentiment towards her.
