HOW TRASHED ARE YOU?

Some of you are clearly minging, trashed, wrecked, slaughtered or under the influence when posting; so go on> admit it!

Well between multiple sorts of painkillers...antibiotics and a coupla joints to stop me throwing it all back up......I'm usually less than sober.

BTW...painkillers are so good you can poke a finger in an open wound and not care THAT much. But I have a sore tooth, and that cuts clean through them as if i'd nothing in me at all. Makes my wonder what they give people with extreme dental pain...Morphine?....a gun and one bullet? You can learn all the survival skills you like and survive whatever disaster you personally fear. But you'll only survive as long as your first need for a dentist.

the occasional glass (in AgentWoodspeak, glass = bottle) of wine. if it's before my bedtime i might be dozing off on my sleeping pills and not entirely coherent, but i'm usually sober.

Here, in THE GREATEST COUNTRY ON EARTH, we have no health care system.

Well, actually, if you're very wealthy, there's an excellent health care system. And if you're working, and your employer provides health insurance, there's a health care system. Not excellent by any stretch of the imagination, but a system nonetheless. And if you're on the dole, there's a really, really, really shite system.

But we have no health care system that provides service to the working poor. 45 million of them at last count. SO... About a year or so ago, I was working a shite student job that paid the rent, but provided no health care coverage; however the school provided a shite health insurance plan for all of the students. The health insurance plan DOES NOT provide dental coverage. I even tried at one point to ADD dental coverage for an extra fee, but the insurance company said they had nothing available.

One day, one of my molars started hurting. Then it started really hurting. Then it started REALLY hurting. Then it started REALLY REALLY REALLY hurting. And so on, for over a month. The pain was sometimes UNBELIEVABLE, even through the massive doses of ibuprofen I was downing. I tried the local dental school; they told me to call back in a month. I went to a free clinic; they told me they would pull the tooth for $40, but they didn't know if it could be saved or not until the dentist started working on it(pulling a tooth and leaving a hole causes major dental problems later). I asked them to try that, but they said no, they only pull teeth. Like I said, the health care system for the poor is really, really shite.

So I told them I was going to try to find a dentist. After a week with no luck in finding a dentist, I had to decide whether top pull the tooth. But you know what happened? It actually started hurting less. Then less, and less, and less, until it finally stopped hurting.

Later, the center collapsed, and then the remainder split; first one half fell out, a few months after, then the other half fell out, a few months after the first half.

And that's what they do for you for dental pain in THE GREATEST COUNTRY ON EARTH.

Oh, sober as a judge, by the way.

Anything during the daylight hours here in the US, I've not been drinking. I may have had a drunken post or three after midnight though...

I'm in the most effing boring mode of employment possible for the next few weeks, but it pays the bills, hence loads of posting in recent times...

Anyway, what i'm trying to say is that that implies i'm sober usually... (and i am, not that that always applies to out of hours activities!)

Sober right now, but last night I was so stoned I didn't know what day it was. My girlfriend called me at 4 AM and I got upset because I thought I had to get up for work.
