I never knew such a thing existed...and apparently, it's worse than we thought
:sex:
You mean there's such a thing as "prison rape"?

Love this quote.......... acknowledged that much sexual violence in prisons was probably never reported. Probably just a wee bit of an understatement there....![]()
Trevor, my boy. Did you actually never hear of prison rape?
Ok, you live in a "1st world country", but you can not be so ingenuous... do you only watch Fox News? ![]()
Start doing reserches with those two names:
Carandiru
Abu Ghraib
Cheers, my friend. ![]()
Of course I've heard of prison rape...how else do you think I lost my virginity? :barf:
:sex:
I just thought it was funny how the government apparently didn't know the extent to which it goes on. Too busy making war on folks to notice their prisoners are getting "the bum rush", so to speak ![]()

Well said Bere, its double OK with me..
its well know that pedophiles are the worst treated in the american prision system. Even a murderer hates him. They are probably the most likely to be raped.

So child molesting is bad, but rape is OK... losing the plot (again) here...![]()
If you're doing "Life" in jail and don't have a partner on the outside for "conjugal" visits then raping fellow inmates is the only way you're going to get your penis into a soft, warm "hole". Prison life is a brutal world to be in. Poor bastards.

Rape on children's molestors is OK. Not in general... ![]()
Child molestation is appauling, disgusting and repellent - but to suggest that rape is a suitable punishment is completely ridiculous.
Lock them up, withold basic privliges and analyse them so that other paedophiles will be easier to catch.
You cannot teach people and society that sexual violation is wrong through even more sexual violation!
The same goes for the death penalty.
What I mean is that they all need prison sentences. They should not be allowed to wander around the community on some vague police surveillance programme.
Yeah, I get it. But I understand Bere too. They are scumbags, and maybe prison isn't enough punishment for some bastards.

Are you a lawyer? ;)
Of course you are right. I don't plead for children's molestors to be punished by being raped. It is kind of fun to see that such guys get what they did to little children. Here in germany these childrens rapists (even if they murdered them afterwards) get into forensic psychiatric hospitals and are released after two or three years, considered healed. Almost everyday you read in the newspaper that one of those, released a few weeks ago, re-offended. Why don't they get castrated or such? My dream-punishment for every re-offending molestor is a forced sex-change...

Let's just hope they don't convict the wrong person...
So be careful :D .

I am more right wing on this subject..and of the belief they are the incurable ENEMY of our children..A merciful bullet in the head will help wittle this scum out of the gene pool..castration would be the minimum price they would pay if I was sentencing the perverts![]()
The problem is these people are obviously mentally ill. Giving them "more punishment than just prison" reflects our anger about innocent children being hurt, but it doesn't address the real problem, which is these people have an illness. Maybe it's even something that can't be "cured." But no matter how much you hurt them, they still have that mental illness.
That's not an argument for leaving them alone to do what they want, or to release them after 2 or 3 years of therapy. It just seems ineffective, and morally questionable, to brutalize somebody because they have a disease.
Didn't Jesus himself say (analogously quoted):
Who ever molests or rapes a child should be thrown into a river with a millstone around his neck?
i dont think jesus said anything like that. That sounds like the old testament.
Could be wrong?
I'm sure it was Jesus... I'm not that religious that I can quote the book and verse... I'll try to find out... Perhaps at the Sermon on the Mount...
There're three problems with this whole prison rape discussion:
The most likely prison rape victim will be a woman (read the article Tabbsy provided);
The most likely male prison rape victim will be somebody who is not a hardened member of the prison culture, e.g., some young kid picked up for carrying a small amount of marijuana;
This whole "child molester" argument. Imagine your best mate is a fine, upstanding citizen. Solid as can be. Then your best mate gets an inoperable brain tumor, and because of the tumor, your best mate's behavior is affected and he/she becomes a child molester. Should your best mate then be brutalized by extra-judicial means (in other words, in addition to court-mandated punishment) as punishment for behavior over which your best mate has no control, and which is due to a disease?
Because that's what some of you are arguing here.
Obviously, brain tumors, as far as I know, don't turn people into child molesters. But child molesters do have a disease, and it's hard to see that, because their behavior is so repugnant. I'm not saying let them go wreak havoc, only that you're arguing for brutalizing people whose behavior is a result of their disease.
Something else for you to consider: as I recall, and I couldn't be arsed to look it up now, child molesters tend to have been abused themselves as children, and that's what has shaped their behavior. So when you argue that they should be brutalized, remember that at one point in their lives, they were that innocent, defenseless child being raped, and now that they're adults, their childhood molester has been replaced by society, and now it's ALL of society that wants to brutalize them.
The point here is you can prevent them from ever harming another child again, without resorting to torture.

You have the quote wrong.

Sexual violence isn't about wanting sex, it's about gaining power over the victim.

Googled it:
Mat 18: 1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" 2 And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them 3 and said, "Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 "Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, 6 but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.
I just thought it was funny that the government needed a study to determine the amount of prison rape going on. I had no idea it would lead to such serious discussion ![]()
On the whole, I think prison rape is an unfortunate circumstance of prison life which really can only be approached with something like "solitary confinement" and no mixing among the prison population. Of course, that's not gonna happen anytime soon, and rape is rape no matter where it happens. I don't think pedophiles deserve any special treatment, but I don't think we should let the brutes in for other crimes take turns "initiating" them. Psychological counciling can uncover the roots of the problem and help detect those still in the general population that do the same thing.
I've got a big problem with the amount of registered sex offenders who seem to be popping up in cases that make national news. I doubt it's as widespread as the sensationalists would make it to be, but the thought of a child molester (even a reformed one, if there ever is such a thing) in my neighborhood is an unpleasant one.
