"Strange Times" Album is fantastic. A shame it's oft-overlooked.

Ah ! Souvenir, souvenir... 'Script of the bridge' 's one of my all time fave... And what a live experience as well !! One of Manchester's finest either.

Rian sent me a copy of Script Of A Bridge a month or so ago, and i'm really enjoying it. Shouldn't this thread be in Behind Closed Doors?

I've only heard two songs - "In Shreds" and "Swamp Thing" - but I love them both. I should check out more of their stuff.

Message to Jim,The Chameleons got back together a few years ago briefly and did a few gigs again,one of which I got the video recorded at the Manchester Academy.And I look a right knob pogoing to "Splitting in Two" on it!The also did an acoustic CD called "Strip" which featured two new songs including a song called "Indian" which turns up on a studio album as "Indiana"! Their final CD for now was entitled "Why Call It Anything?".A really good comeback album. A bloody shame,it was great to have them back,but it was always going to be shortlived,as Mark Burgess lives in Germany with his indiginous wife.He sometimes pops over to watch Man City. Bumped into Dave Fielding a couple of times in The Brunswick in Middleton.I think even he's left the area,so no chance of a REEGS album either! I can't decide on which is my favorite album,I'm torn between the first three,but "Strange Times" is the best produced album. Best live album "Tripping Dogs" recorded as a soundcheck at Free Trade Hall,in Manchester. Fave songs: Up The Down Escalator,Tears,and Swamp Thing

Aww,brilliant! Thanks for that.Bury's only up the road from me. "Tripping Dogs" is an excellent "live" album,if only for the fact that it contains the best versions ever of "Second Skin" and "Pleasure and Pain"

Gotta love the drums on the Peel Sessions. Nice and crisp.

Yeah,just found out off my mate Shorty who used to go watch City with Mark,that he's on at Bury Met on 19th October.

I love this band. 'Script of the Bridge' is VERY JD-esque but if you can find a copy of "Dali's Picture" which are the demos for SOTB it's a lot different and more "punk" sounding for lack of a better word. Even better than SOTB in my opinion.

What Does Anything Mean Basically? is probably my favorite album and Strange Times is great as well.T heir last album sucked. Do not buy!

They played Maxwells in Hoboken in 2002 and were incredible.

I didn't hear about them before I heard (read) Rian talking about seeing them, not far from where I live. I have to tell a story of strange coincidences here...

I asked a friend of mine if he heard about them (he's into Manchester music 'n stuff, too). He first denied but then he told me, that he once (about 1988) did a holiday job on a strawberry plantage. There he accidentially confused a mixed-tape with a co-worker. On this tape was written: "Chameleons". I visited my pal yesterday. He dug up the old tape and we listend to it (it was in marvellous condition). We found out that it must be "Script of the bridge"... We were both enthusiastic about the music...

In Shreds is one very goood song indeed.I have the 12" Version but sadly it got damaged.Great song though and i think that they should have gone alot further than they did.

Yeah I can never understand it happened.I've heard the first time they split up,Mark Burgess left in the middle of a European tour. But you only have to listen to Reg and Dave on the REEGS material to wonder,why are they(or were they) on the dole??

Yes, I love The Chameleons. Heard them first time round 1983-84. A friends sister came back from London with Script of the bridge, and I fell for it.

Been in my life since back then.

It was a coincidence that I found out about them getting together again. Thanks Internet for that. I was lucky enough to see them live in Germany 3 years ago. It was a dream come true for me.

Mark Burgess still do music, and so are Dave Fielding.

It's like Rian said on the Tony Fletcher Walked On Water EP. 4 songs on this one which should have developed into the fourth official album, but it didn't happen due the first break up.
