Whats your Favourite Discovery Channel Programme, or indeed, Discovery Channel?

What is your favourite? For me it has to be MythBusters. A fantastic programme. I also like off the rails and Massive Engines with Chris Barry. American Chopper is getting a bit long in the tooth, epically the prearranged “I gotta tell ya” outbursts to camera. It did take the sting out of exams last Summer though. Back then, the bikes were still fresh.

My least favourite is Time Team. What a steaming pile of shit. Who is the guy who introduces it?* – I only ever watch 3 seconds of it. It reminds me of the “We are History” spoof with Marcus Basingstoke.

Of course there’s something for everyone in the family on Discovery. Watching John Nichol fuck up the environment, or Lance Armstrong prove its not all about EPO always crack me up. There is Medical Detectives for the which I don’t like, but often have to sit through, something topical – like a film tie in for the younger ones, and right at the bottom is the Discovery Channel Tie in – like Southern Chopper.

Whats your Favourite?

Note: I diddnt remember all these programmes off the top of my head!

you forgot the discovery times channel; that's my favourite. it's not a 'programme' per se, but it certainly has the best programming!

Don't watch that much tv, though I can usually count for something decent to watch on Discovery.

Agree that American Chopper is a bit long in the tooth, but I still like that one.

Mythbusters is probably my fave, the toothbrush experiment for fecal matter in the air was a great one.

I'm with AgentWood on the DiscoveryTimes channel (maybe it's not on over there), the sequence of DiscoveryTimes, Science, and National Geographic channels are my most viewed.

it is nice that they're placed in a sequence by the cable companies. one can watch a program on terrorist attacks, then on the possibility of meteors destroying the earth, and then the imminent volcanic armageddon--one right after the other.

national geographic's taboo series is incredibly fascinating, as well. my favourite is the one on taboo foods.

I dont know what Discovery Times is. We dont get it over here. Theres nothing quite like a good documentary though.

it's a blending of the discovery channel with the new york times. good stuff.

nope, not taking the piss. it's a joint venture between the two--lots of political and current event documentaries. i watched an interesting one recently about female suicide bombers, where lisa ling went to chechnya and the gaza strip and spoke to the families of the bombers.
