I've never been very keen on Billy Connolly. Find him annoying and less funny than Gervaise. Don't like the way he told jokes about disabled people while sucking up to the rich and powerful like Prince Charles, don't like his advertising the lottery (doesn't he have enough money already, that he needs to encourage more poeople to clog up supermarket queues while throwing their money away?) and didn't like his defending Mel Gibson's dire Christ film. Didn't he also make a tasteless Ken Bigley joke?
Down to a question of taste mate. IMO Billy Connolly is the funniest man alive. I have a mate that thinks the same as you (he's rich now and couldn't give a fuck / doing lotto adverts etc...) dunno what yer referring to with the disabled bit - but yes, apparently he did make a joke about Ken Bigley, he made a mistake - not the first comedian to give a joke in bad taste though. I have loads of his stand up videos, and even though you know what's coming I still find masel cracking up.

Fair 'nuff. Don't think I've ever watched an entire performance of his, everytime I've caught him on telly he's almost immediately said something that annoyed me causing me to change channel.
I do grant you he's not as annoying as Ben Elton. At least his accent is real.
