So, another avatar, another one of my favorite spaceships? That Brian Johnson fella was a genius...

I had a wonderful Eagle dinky toy when I was a boy and I need to get it replaced. Shame they cost £44 and my credit cards are creaking...

A Dinky Toy Eagle? Never knew that... I remember when I was a kid a friend of mine had a huge (and I mean huge!) model kit. Playing with it is one of my most treasured childhood memories! Shame my own kid will never know the magic of an Eagle lift-off...

Try:

http://www.forbiddenplanetstore.com/

and search for space 1999.

There's a range of eagles, such as;

Space 1999 - Rescue Eagle(Reference #C1973) Rescue Eagle Medical Transporter , this gorgeously detailed ship measures in at just over 12 inches long. OUR PRICE: £44.99

That's on my chrimbo list!

P.S. Shame the 2nd series was tripe; loved it as a kid, but now I only rate series 1.

Thanks for the tip, but I already knew that store! When I was talking about my kid I meant that he will never know the sensation of seeing the series for the first time.. and believing it was all real, what with this Playstation nad the like era we live in...

Yep. Can be tough finding sci-fi shows from the 70's / 80's that will stand up in a kiddies consciousness.

My five year old can tolerate up to 30 minutes of Blakes 7 at a time, which I find quite amazing. He's also good with Space 1999 series 2; it's pretty and colourful and lots of things blow up, whereas series 1 is more cerebral; hence adults are more drawn to 1 and kids to 2. It was reversed when I was a kid as well!

The original '77 star wars still mesmerises the kiddies and they're equally happy with thunderbirds, terrahawks type stuff...

Not tried old trek on the 5 year old, but i'm sure he'll like that as well, just so long as there are aliens in it- that was my deepest concern when I was five as well!

I wouldn't try any new trek on him- social services might take your kids away if you do this- be warned!

My kid loves The Phantom Menace (what's with kids these days... :lol: ). Every once in a while I get the "daddy, play the DVD with the little boy and the spaceship" request! And yes, I wouldn't show him new Trek (although Enterprise had it all to be good... but wasn't!). But I'm sure he'd love the Gorn (I haven't bought the TOS sets yet...)!

Still need to get the TOS DVD's myself... waiting for my credit card bills to drop as this month its; my partner's birthday, my wedding anniversay, my daughter's birthday, my son's christening and my partner's celebration party for qualifying as a nurse...
