First I thought it's good for buisness - alot of people. Economy is booming :) But then I got a call from my sisters-in-law living in Corpus Christi and they are about to leave in a few hours to come to... my apartment, 6 people!!!! It's panic over there. The traffic is jammed already etc...
I cannot even tell you how crazy it is here in my hotel these days.
So we've got news.
I'm sitting in my office and watching the billboard with prices at the gas station across the street - ready to run up with my gas jars. So far it's $ 2.57.

2.57? Is that all? Got mine for 2.58 today, and that's the lowest by far I've seen here in the valley by about 20 cents at the least, more likely closer to 35 cents everywhere else.
It's called "karma", folks. Either that, or as the Greeks used to say, "hubris" 
I feel bad mostly for the people who just left Louisiana after Katrina, it looks like anybody from Houston on down is about to get the shit knocked out of them.

Well, it's getting pretty crazy here in Austin...got to work last night, and there was no bottled water left, no batteries, no canned goods...it seemed insane...
We're about 200 miles inland, but people are acting like we are going to be stranded for days...I saw lines at gas stations, the roads are packed, especially on the south and east side of town, where the highways from the coastal areas come into Austin...
and I'm gonna really be pissed it Rita fouls up my plans for this weekend....the Austin City Limits Music Festival is this weekend...and I was really looking forward to seeing bands like Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs, Rilo Kiley (who are playing at the same time as Doves....grrrr), Eisley, Keane, Spoon and Kasabian....
ahhh well...maybe everything will be okay.....weather forecast just came on the TV...and looks like we may only see rain on Saturday....which is the weakest of the 3 days of the festival....

I thought for sure Bush would respond more adequately to Rita bearing down on his home coast (as he is a "native Texan" by way of Conn., but a native Texan in his heart), but it looks like they're taking their sweet time and waiting for the storm to do her worst. He really does not give a fuck about anyone, does he?

Friday I saw Asleep At The Wheel, Kasabian, Wayne "The Train" Hitchcock, Mates of State, Robert Earl Keane, Thievery Corporation, The Allman Brothers Band and Keane...
Saturday was Aqualung, Built to Spill, The Frames, Death Cab For Cutie, The Walkmen, Jet, Bloc Party and Oasis...
Today will be Eisley, M83, Rilo Kiley, The Bravery, The Arcade Fire, The Bob Mould Band, Franz Ferdinand, The Black Keys and Coldplay...
so in a way...I guess it is raining men...
I do have a question after the last two days are Zilker Park...
do the women in Austin just not eat...I have never seen so many skinny, ill looking women in my life...
How was Thievery Corp. live Jeff? Various singers in front of Eric and Rob? Love the records, just not sure if they can pull off a live gig, besides I've been gone everytime they've made it to Oregon.
