I'm watching the game right now, it's 4-0 ChiSox and I'm convinced that a White Sox World Series appearance (much less victory) would send the Earth hurtling into the sun...
Oh wait, that'll only happen if the Cubs make it :p
Anyway, could we seriously be talking about two eighty-plus runs of futility in the sports world coming to an end within a year of one another? Or have I just jinxed it?

i love the cubs!!! grew up watching them... if they ever made it to the World Series, it would never be the same!!! it would be quite apocalyptic! i couldn't live life the same way without that phrase 'maybe next year!'
i wish most people in chicago would stop pretending that they actually give a shit about the white sox :P it's sad. i live on the north side and there's white sox jerseys everywhere. i'm happy for some of my friends who are hard core w. sox fans but this bandwagon shit is getting silly.

In fact a lot of people give a shit about the White Sox, but the fact remains that the yuppy scum that want to be seen with the "pretty people" go hang out at Wrigley field, while the REAL sports fan go south on 90/94 and see a real team, play real baseball. Cubs are shit, in my opinion. Their payroll was double that of the Sox and they got nowhere, because they cry like little babies every time a GD pitcher gets injured or someone's groin gets pulled. Suck it up, pussies...Sox Rule the Town!!!!

i think that if there was a poll taken right now, white sox would be voted as the 'real chicago team'!! they've now shown what it takes to get to the series. i'm off of the cubby koolaid that i've been stuck in for years! 
Looks like the Sox and Stros for the WS, very nice matchup, though I'd give the edge to the Sox, at times Houston doesn't seem able to score enough runs for their pitchers. However, I'm still able to recall those lovely shorts that they wore for a game back in 76; God bless you Bill Veeck for being such an entertaining showman.............

actually, im not bitter at all. i was on the phone with my friend tim for 2 hrs. whose a die hard white sox fan talking about baseball and the chicago teams. and what it comes down to is the whitesox bitch about everything such as...
and the truth is, your beloved whitesox were in first place since pretty much the first day of the regular season and at the all star break, your team was 28th in home attendance. the first place whitesox sold out a total of 18 games all year. chances are, more than half the ppl at the cell during the playoffs are bandwagon fans, looking for a reason to celebrate anything and to say, i was there... even when the w.so fans were in first place and the cubs were wasting yet another year, all i heard on sports radio was w. sox fans complaining about media coverage, cubs this, cubs that, cubs suck, blah blah blah. your teams in first place, talk about that for a change.
and the average cubs fan really do not give a fuck. this isn't a chicago thing. this is baseball. the cubs are my team so if the whitesox won it or if houston or st. louis won the world series, it doesn't affect me one bit. i hate them all. but i'll root for the cardinals cause i have a lot more respect for our rivalry and for cardinal fans than i do the whitesox or the astros.
being a fan of baseball, the whitesox are playing great, 7-1 in the playoffs, sweeping the defending champs, finishing the regular season in amazing fashion (won last 5 in a row), having great team chemistry, knowing how to sacfrice and bunt and winning close games, they deserve to be where they are. i dont have a problem with the sox or die hard whitesox fans, i have a problem with bandwagon fans who know little or nothing about baseball in general (and yes, they annoyed me just as much when the cubs were in the playoffs) and the population of whitesox fans who need to always bitch about the cubs.
and i'm not a yuppy. born and raised on the northside, but not a yuppy.
ps - i wonder how many people from the wheaton area (naperville, aurora, glen elyn, warrenville, etc...) actually go to whitesox games. seeing as so many of these so called yuppies invading lincoln park and wrigleyville and going to cubs games usually come here from the wealthier suburbs surrouding you or from northbrook or winetka.

no, i haven't really had an interest in cricket. i was talking to a co-worker of mine that watches all her friends play. it sounds like a down-graded baseball game where people throw the ball with a funny wind-up.
I actually grew up in Joliet, in a very "blue-collar" area...Yes, you are right about Wheaton...That town is about as Yupped up as you can get. Mostly Cub fans in my neighborhood, but the bandwagon ride has begun...
Did you hear about the outrageous price that tickets are going for??? $3,500 for good sets and $1000 for mediocre. On any given day, you could walk up to the ticket window and get a good seat. I usually never go to a Sox game with an actually pre-purchased ticket. I always find someone that is willing to part with their tickets for a cheap price.

thats why people like tim who go to a bunch of sox games a year ge screwed. it's a hot ticket cause it's the world series. i'd never pay that much to see the cubs or bears in the world series or superbowl. actually, i might for the bears. they're my first love in life.
thats the biggest misconception about cubs fans, that we're all yuppies. we're not. the ppl that go to cubs games are fans of wrigley field not baseball or even the cubs. my friends and i are lucky if we go to even one cubs game a year. we prefer to watch it on tv, though that became hard to do once steve stone left cause the new guys are idiots and even steve made chip tolerable. also listening to pat hughes and ron santo is a great alternative cause they're funny.
but, this isn't about the cubs. our season is over. GO BEARS!

I'd rather see Houston denied, now that I think about it. A Cards-ChiSox Series would guarentee the intense rivalry between Chicago and St. Louis (even if it is more "Cubs-Cards"-centered)
